Well first off - he wasnt lying about the car - you were there and saw for yourself he had a problem -
Secondly - he seems like he is very interested, calling you - meeting you after going out with your gf.
Thirdly - you've kissed him already.
It sounds to me that he is very interested in you. Your hesitant about trusting which is okay, its better to be hesitant than trust someone so quickly. But it looks as though little by little he is earning it.

Well actually I think your story is a GREAT one!! OK , you didn't get to go on a date yesterday.... but despite that fact , in reality it truly sounds like things are going very well for you and this guy is being a sweetie. He is doing all the right things, calling consistently, is not playing games or making lame excuses.. it seems that he is into you and vice versa, and that its going sloooowly but surely along a nice path

I think everyone of us has experience hurt in our past relationships and I do not blame you for ONE second in feeling a little skittish or for wanting to take it slow. Its hard to trust again and believe that this situation may be different after being hurt.. Trust me before my DH, I was hurt more times than I'd care to say, and my trust level was down to ZERO when he came along. But when the RIGHT GUY is in your life, you find that you can get past those issues and you see things clearer.. you will learn to open your heart again, it just takes some patience and time and good communication..which I think you have
