My mom's friend is a super sweet lady and as a shower gift she made us our gift card box. This was a complete surprise. I love the thought, it was so sweet that she put time into making something. I know I sound like a jerk because of the sweetness and I'm sorry, but it's a bit tacky looking. It has fake flowers all over glued to the top of it. I'm not a fan of fake flowers. I put a lot of thought into the decor, but I can't turn this down, it was too nice of her. I said thank you, and how thoughtful. Oh well.
Am I a completely ungrateful a*s?

Re: Oi.
That would totally bug me too.... maybe you can place it somewhere else and do that wishes thing that some brides do...where they have people leave wishes for the bride and groom? That way you can still use it but not on the gift table that would most likely be right behind where you are sitting and in all your pictures!?!?!?

no your not everyone has different taste..you thanked her and that was sweet..you can always tell her you already bought one and if you didnt have your shower maybe you can use hers for your shower and not the wedding

Re: Oi.
I went with one florist over another because they were willing to go with a lot of my decor ideas-vintage milkglass, vintage bottles, moss, peonies mixed with wildflowers. A fake flower box is a bit of an eyesore if I'm going to be completely honest, but on the other hand it's nice because the big picture of the wedding is about warmth and love, which this gift has. I will just steer my photographer away from the fake flower box.

Re: Oi.
Oh man, is the gift card table the same table as the placecards table? I planned out lots of ideas for this table with the florist I was really excited about...

oh no thats terrible! i mean its a very nice and considerate gift but i def do understand you wanting to stick with your decor. if the fake flowers are the only thin you dont like about it (but you like the colors) maybe you can take them off and have the florist place a few real flowers on it the day of the wedding???

Re: Oi.
I think that would help a lot, but it might offend her. Where does the gift box usually go? Is it the same table as the guest signing book and placecards?

oh man that stinks! but youre right it is a sweet gesture
no the card box normally goes on a table behind the sweetheart table
get a ton of pics of you and FH, put them in BIG 8x10 frames lol and surround the box with the pics, this way iat least not alllll the attention is on the box
post a pic, maybe it's not as bad as you think? plus the room will be dark so it might not be as bad as you think it is now with all your focus on it

Re: Oi.
well I'm having a day wedding so it'll be in the sunlit room! haha I don't have a pic, the giftbox is now at my MIL's house. It's a mailbox shape, and she glued fake flowers to the top and fake petals all over the inside with a love dove ornament thing. It's pretty bad. Even my best friend/MOH agreed it was tacky
She said the gift box usually goes behind us though....so at least it's not SO in your face....? And my placecard table is safe!

Re: Oi.
i just wouldnt bring it and after the wedding have your mom say to her 'i cant believe that so and so forgot to put the cardbox in the limo!!' blame it on some random groomsman let her think it was just an oversight that way you wont have it ruin your decor and she wont feel bad.

or you could use it for your shower?
or keep it in the bridal suite?
or get better fake flowers?

I'm probably a terrible person for thinking this, but it would probably make a really cute toiletries holder...
