OK after all that one question for all of you- Please help!
OK after all of that we decided to do photo invites since they will only cost about 40$
Ok so here is the deal FH and I are throwing the rehearsal dinner - and we need help with the wording - should it read all the wording we find either implies someone else is hosting OR says that grooms or brides parents are hosting:
Christine L. & Robert G. Request the pleasure of your company at _________ rehearsal dinner Friday, April 23, 2004 etc etc etc etc
So should the blank say: 1) OUR; or 2) THEIR?

I think 'their' sounds better

Ok that is what we thought BUT I spoke to my father (attorney) and a bunch of my english major friends and they say that it sounds (implies) that someone else is hosting if I use their? That is why we don't know what to do

I agree with marcella, I see what your saying about hosting, but if its sent from you and everything, I think they know you're hosting it.

i would make it OUR and less formal sounding - did you use the phrase 'Request the pleasure of your company' on your invite?

I don't think it implies that at all. I think the people requesting others' presence are the ones hosting. That's why people put 'Mr & Mrs X request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter Jane X to...' when their parents are paying/hosting.
Did that make sense?

ok, you sem to have picekd, but I agree.
Marcella is right, once you use your first names, you are spaking in the 3rd person, so you should stick with it & use their. It does sounds like someelse is issuing the invitation, but since its says 'bride & groom request.. .' it is clear that you are throwing the party.
You just have 'your people' sending out the invites. . .

You can't put the names and then say our, it is mixing up the sentence and doesn't make sense.
If you want to make it known you are hosting it, you should change the wording all together.
