My sweetie chartered a helicopter tour of the city. He planned that we flew over certain places, all of which has little messages waiting on big signs. When we got to the end, there were candles waiting on a table with flowers and he dropped and asked. I cried and cried and the helipilot was there taking a movie of the whole thing. It was so romantic.

the day we took the ring from my grandmother and she told him to give it to me when he was ready....he ended up giving it to me, in the car, before meeting friends at Friendly's for some late night ice cream....they were shocked

I love my DH for giving me this story. He surprised me and flew us, first class (which I had never done before) to Seville in Spain and then in Venice for the week of Carnevale. He had prearrranged for a magnificent suite and for us to be fitted for costumes and to attend one of the big society balls. He had also arranged for us to get there on an old wedding gondola with a band playing. So there we were in full costume, fireworks behind us, band playing and singing, and in a broken voice, he asked me. Then we got to the ball (where all 300 guests knew) and they had champagne and toasted us all night long. It was incredible. Here is a picture of the proposal moment.
My story isn't as spectacular,but still sweet and romantic. My FH propsed to me in Central Park by the Bethesda Fountain. We had gone on a picnic there 5 years earlier when we were living in different states. At that point we weren't sure if it was going to last. But on that day he realized he was so in love with me. He proposed to me on the exact spot where we had picniced 5 years earlier.

Well, it was supposed to be in Rockafeller Center, but alas, the Blackout made it impossible to get to the city!
So, we went to The Snapper Inn for dinner, and then drove to Jones Beach. He proposed on the boardwalk

FH hung the ring on the christmas tree line an ornament, when I woke up on Christmas morning, it was the first thing I saw, he took it off the tree and asked me to be his wife

He was on his way back from playing Santa and had his eyebrows and beard painted grey.
He ran in the door like a maniac, and fell to his kness, with tears in his eyes and in front of our first Christmas Tree and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! I could not have been more surprised.
It was (clearly) a spontaneous decision he made on the train ride home and he could not wait to go get a ring.
The last thing I said to him before he fell on his knees was 'God, you look so OLD with that makeup on!'
I still laugh about that.

It was my Birthday, July 25th, 2003, so I had no idea it was coming.
We had dinner in the city and then after dinner he took me on the horse and carriage ride and he asked the man to stop in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral and with him he had a box of Godiva Chocolates.
He asked me to open the chocolates and hand him a piece. He had cut out a square from the plastic tray and placed the jewlery box in there.
He then got onto his knee in the carriage and proposed to me.
People on the street saw him and were clapping and cheering on. It was a beautiful night.

Fh and I were on a cruise ship. We were at a show and I realized he was acting funny but I figured being the 2nd night on the ship he wasn't feeling well. We went on the side of the deck at night and after hugging and enjoying being in the middle of no where (we were en route to Dominican Republic). He pulled out a ring box and said he had a gift for me. He was so nervous he actually forgot to ask 'the Question!'
We still laugh about it to this day.

He threw me a surprise 30th birthday party with both of our families and a bunch of friends. While everyone was singing Happy Birthday the owner of the restaurant came out with a sign. When they were done, he turned me around and the sign said 'Shandra, Will You Marry Me?' I was completely shocked!!!
IN THE BERKSHIRE MTS AT MY FAMILY REUNION.. IN FRONT OF ALL 100 OF THEM.. I NEARLY FAINTED. LOL

This past July 17th by the fountain in front of the Pantheon in Rome, the only Roman structure to survive the barbarian invasions (symbolism, hopefully). The entire piazza stood still when they heard me screaming 'Oh my God'. The Japanese tourists thought he was attacking me and all looked concerned until I waved my left hand at the international crowd and all exhaled a sigh of relief and then burst into applause.

We were in Atlantic City... I came out of the bathroom in the hotel room and I noticed a little Angel Cheeks statue on the night table. I had bought three at the gift shop during the day so I was confused. I was like 'whats that?' and 'why did you take that out?'. When i got closer to it I saw that it was an angel holding out a little box with a ring inside, and in the angels lap was my ring. I started crying and it actually took a few minutes before I even saw it!!

Took me on a dinner/dancing crusie around Manhattan. Just after we passed under one of the bridges at night - he proposed under a beautiful starry sky.
