Ok girls I need your help..

Time to get down to business with my wedding dress. What's an average price everyone is spending on their dress? How do I know if i'm getting riped off?

I had the online sites quote me as well as 2 bridal shops. I went with Netbride b/c they had the best price.

I started a post on this before. It seems that prices range from like 500 - 5k. I haven't even started looking yet!

To avoid getting caught up in the moment, LEAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD AT HOME. And don't let them rush you. And try to undershoot your budget a little. When I went, the first dress they brought out was $900 over my stated budget.

My dress was only $600 but it's not from a major designer. Try RK Bridal. They are very nice in there and their prices are really great.

I am cheap

so mine cost $450. I couldn't rationalize spending alot on my dress.

Here is a tip I learned, bridal stores will switch the size tags on you! If your a size 4 they'll give you a 8 so you need alterations. Also if your a size 14, they'll give you a 10, more alternations. If they don't have it in your size, insist on ordering one that is! None of this nonsense of paying for someone to sew something up can be ordered in your size!

A good salon should show you the sizing chart so you can see, from the manufacturer, what size you need.

I paid $2000, but saw many beautiful gowns for $1000 and under!!! I almost bought one that cost $650. But then I found mine!

I don't know if I count but...

I'm paying $500 for my dress and having it custom made.

From what I've seen, dresses usually run from about $500 to about $5,000

I agree with leaving the credit card at home when first going to look at dresses.

Make sure you write the style number down and the designer and find out all the fees associated, and compare prices with at least 4 or 5 other salons, and 2 internet sellers.

mine was 1000 not including alterations. But I'm having it ordered to my length an extra 80$ since I'm only 5ft tall, its well worth it since a hem is usually 125 or more!!!

I paid $500 for mine, and then $140 for alterations, which I did NOT get done at the bridal shop. They charge WAY too much I went to a private seamstress who hemmed it, let it out 1/2 inch, and made a french bustle. At the bridal shop just for a hem the STARTING price was $65, and up. crazy. And I agree with one of the other posters, most bridal shops order the wrong size so they can also make money on alterations.

My dress was about $850 & the only alterations I will need is my bustle...So basically I am under $1K for my dress!

Depends on what your looking for.. and where you go. I got my gown at a trunk show in bridal reflections, and got $500 of my dress.. The dress came out to $2,150 w/o adding the bustle & alterations.

I am going to order my dress through Gownfind!

Thanks to the grils on LI Weddings, informing me of them.

I found the dress I am going to order the cheapest price in the store of 1200.

I am getting it from gownfind for 840 w/tax!

Alterations with traditional bussle $150!!!
