i am a huge pilates fanatic. it gives you fast results!!!! but more for toning, not really weight loss.... have you tried atkins or WW? my mom has had success quickly with both.

did you go to commack? you look so familiar to me.

I love weight watchers- I lost 30 lbs. I am going to get back on starting monday.

Yes, I went to Commack- I remember you, too!

Do you use pilates tapes? What is it exactly?

Re: Ok, I am back.

Weight Watchers is giving out something called 'Fast Track' that basically tells you what to eat - you only get the equivalent of 20 points a day (no flex points), but you're TOLD what to spend those 20 points on so you're eating what you must nutritionally. They say that if you follow it, you lose a lot really quick. It also comes with a workout DVD. That might help you lose what you need to.

Also, I like the Precor machines at my gym, it really helps my weight loss. I get on one for 45 minutes or so at a time.

Good luck, and come back here for any help you need.

Sunny-- ha! i knew it!

anyway.. pilates is a system of exercise developed by joseph pilates, hence the name. it is used a lot by ballet dancers, so it makes your muscles long and lean... when i used to weight train at the gym, i would get thicker, not leaner. so this has really helped!!

aspects of it are similar to yoga, but it really concentrates on what they call your 'powerhouse' -- abdominals, lower back, and butt. You don't need to do 42 reps of an exercise either. As long as you perfect your form, 8 reps are enough of any exercise! Plus, the whole routine is short (20-45 mins depending on the tape), so there really is no excuse not to do it!

I use these tapes, all of which are good:

Mari Winsor Pilates
Pilates for Dummies
Classical Pilates Mat (work up to this one)

hope it helps!
