Ok, I am giving my 2 weeks, or 2 and a half, weeks notice at the beginning of June and I need to write a letter or resignation, any words of wisdom? I've never done this before!

Re: Ok, I am quitting my job, I need help!
do you have another job lined up?
the letter doesn't need to say anything other than you're resigning effective [date].
if you want you could say why...or mention you've learned a lot but its time to move on, blah, blah, blah

I do not have another job lined up. I am moving from MA back to LI. If I can't find a job by August, I will just finish my masters. I teach private lessons for music, and that equals what I make now, I just want to teach in a school too for the security of it. But my time in MA is up, I can't take it here anymore!

I would say something like the following, although I've never been a teacher (is that what you are quitting?) but you can get the drift:
Dear HR (put their name),
This letter is to confirm that my last day of employment at (company) will be on (date). It has been a pleasure working at (company), and please feel free to contact me at (phone#) if you have any questions at any future time.
Sincerely,
I wrote mine like this since I left on good terms. I'm not sure what your situation is. Hope this is helpful & good luck!

Thank you! Yes, I am leaving a taching position, and it is on good terms, so I would like to make it as smooth as possible. thanks for the ideas!
this is the letter I wrote to my school district when I moved out of state...the union told me to put 'personal family reasons' since I wasn't leaving for another job---good luck---I can sympathize with the stress...
Dear Mr. X
It is with regret that I submit this letter of resignation, effective XXX for personal family reasons.
It has been my genuine pleasure to work for XYZ during these last three years. I have enjoyed working with XYZ's fine staff of professionals and colleagues, and will miss my associations here. I wish you and XYZ continued success in all your endeavors.
If I may be of any assistance in the hiring process or training of my replacement, please know that I will gladly make myself available to this effort during the next seven weeks.
Thank you for allowing me to serve XYZ. Again, I wish XYZ continued sucess.
Sincerely, XXX

Both Yabbobay's & Jess02's letters are good.

Ok girls, I'll let you know how it goes. It's a VERY small school and everyone is in everyone's business, so I would like to keep it as generic as possible. Don't want the word to spread that I hate MA and I absolutely hate the kids and the school! (it's a behavioral high school for spoiled criminal children who SHOULD be in jail but some how got a break and ended up in our school. Bleh!)
