ok I feel horrible..

ok I feel horrible..

how do SAHMs do it?!
I was home sick yesterday w. stomach virus and J was in daycare..so I was able to battle most of it and sleep yesterday.
was home today- between the snow and not feeling 100%..but daycare was closed.
robs place actually shut down- they never do..so he was with the baby most of the time

now that she is so mobile..I find it hard to keep up with her..and keep her entertained.

am I a wuss? ( you can be honest but be gentle )

unfortuntely, my boss ( who was in LA) and my client..did not care that i was home sick with baby..stuff HAD to get done today
was ont he phone for over 4 hours negotiating radio station appearance to happen at 5 different stores..and what happens? the client says it is too much $$ and wants me to cancel the radio and look into cable
WHA!!!

we took Julianne out at lunchtime to a local deli where she enjoyed KREPLACH soup. it is chicken soup with jewish dumplings. also had some of daddy's corned beef sandwich.

i spent most of the time feeding her. back home, back on the phone juggling the baby...and after fighting us for an hour she is napping

been napping since 330p and it is 630p

so how come I cantmanage to entertain a one year old? I feel like such a failure..
between the boss in la telling me (indirectly) how to do my job..(thank you btw, I know better than YOU)..the client, who is uncaring, etc...HUMPH

how did my mom do it? she was a sahm, an older woman,.we did not have playdates, and we did not go to daycare or pre k

why do I feel so horrible about this...
and if I can't manage this? ..how am I going to manage when we decide to have another baby???

i'm sorry

She's your first baby and it takes adjusting. I'm not a mommy yet so I'm sure the mommies on the board will have better advice...but I just wanted to tell you that!

Phyl dont feel so terrible and dont be so hard on yourself

Once they hit ONE, they are so much harder to keep after and keep entertained. Even if I let JA run around the house, I still follow him around, especially in the bathroom and kitchen, to make sure he's out of harms way.
It sure gets tiring but I also like for him to get his enjoyment out of running around and exploring. This past week, Ive been napping when he naps because Im so pooped by mid-afternoon.

Between my little part time job (watching 20 kids for 4 hours a day ) running my local moms club chapter, and just being a mommy and wife or wait 'domestic engineer' , I feel like Im running on empty sometimes too.
Im sure I will find the strength somehow when I have another one to add to my little mix

Hang in there. Youre doing the best you can and thats all that matters.

Re: ok I feel horrible..

Hi Phyl. Last week I could have written your post. I was working from home last Monday because I was too sick to go into the office. Annalise went to the sitters house a few blocks away. That night I wound up at the dr. and was given an antibiotic and told not to go near the baby for a full day. Yeah right! DH put her to bed that night when we got home. I had soup and went to bed by 9 - even though I hurt too much to sleep. I don't know how single moms/dads do it. The next day I was supposed to be off fom work so I could go to the hospital and wait with my parents while my brother had major heart surgery. Before bed I called my boss to tell him I would try to do a little work from home since I could not go to the hospital, but I was going to have the baby with me. My MIL was supposed to watch her but she got sick too. I felt guilty that day trying to entertain Annalise, get some work done, and keep my pounding head off the pillow. I let her watch her Einstein videos a little more than usual. This is not much help to you. I am hoping to let you know you are not alone. Moms to not get time off. Our job is 24/7, so we are bound to have 'less' productive days. Don't beat yourself up.

anna and victoria..

when am I going to meet you ladies..because I owe you TONS of hugs.

i am hard on myself...and part of it is that this is my first child, so I am new at this..and part of it is I dont have a mom so I can't ask her opinion or help. that makes it harder.

I was told by a wise mom that you just try your best every day. seems that you both said the same thing. now, if i can get it thru my thick skull!
ahhh..I love being a mom...I just dont think I am cut out to be a SAHM..and I have always thought that is what I HAD to be. Julianne does wonderfully in daycare, makes lots of friends, is very active and is socialized. I think they do a better job than I could..I just want the best , as you all do...and I think that I sometimes fall short...

being sick and having my AF at the same time is not helping either...sappy me!

thanks for the support- most times, it is the only medicine we truly need...

thanks gals..I will keep my chin up

(ANNA- I hear it gets easier when you have more than one...)

Please dont compare the love and care you give your little darling to the structure of day care. Its great that you found day care that is meeting your daughters needs BUT you have to remember that they do not have 100 other things going on at the same time. Cut yourself some slack. I am sure your little girl loves her time at day care but loves her time with Mommy and Daddy more.

ETA - this is not a plea for or against being a SAHM

Re: ok I feel horrible..

Phyl - just so you know I think being a Mommy - SAHM or not is the hardest job I have ever done. I am trying to work from home at least 8 hours a week and go into the office 1 day a week...the working from home is the hardest part!

The baby consumes my day - and like Anna, (even though Ryan's not walking yet) I feel like I need to be on top of him crawling and cruising around...it is all-consuming and exhausting. And I worry about things ALL the time - getting work done, talking to the office, keeping up with assignments, getting laundry done, cleaning, cooking, am I giving him enough reading time...why doesn't he like baby einstein when everyone else does, does he need more activities -- good Lord you can drive yourself nuts!! You are not alone. Much as I love him, most days I cannot WAIT until bedtime to have some peace -- and I feel guilty saying that!! to you! You are doing a great job!!

Aw, Phyl, I hope you're feeling better!!! Please don't beat yourself up -- you're only human and we can only do so much!! And I should listen to my own advice!!! We try to be supermom and when we can't, we beat ourselves up. You are a FANTASTIC mom!!! Don't let your stupidass boss or dumbass client get to you!!

Feel better!!!
