OK, I have a question, that I hope someone can help me answer. Yes, its political!!

This has been bugging me for a long long time and everyone I ask, just doesn't have a good answer for me.

How in the world can **** Cheney be George Bush's vice president, stand by him, support him when he has an openly gay daughter??

George Bush wants to create a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. How can **** Cheney, support this or be any part of it or George Bush's administration, when his own daughter is gay. He is basically helping to deny his own daughter any chance for happiness in her future. I really don't get it!!!

I'll answer..A person can still love a gay child but that does not mean that they have to support the movement for some religious people, homosexuality is considered wrong but you still have to love your own flesh..its only natural.

Cheney has stated that on the issue of the ammendment he and Bush have agreed to disagree. Cheney has stated that he and his wife support their daughter.

Ok, I'm not sure if this is going to come out ok but here's my take on it. It's like a parent still loving their child even if they are a convicted murderer or a drug dealer. You still love them because they are your child but you don't have to support them and their lifestyle. For all we know **** hates gays but is willing to accept his own daughter because he loves her so much.

I'm sorry, I know you said it wouldn't come out right, but it horrifies me that you compare homosexuality to being a murderer or drug dealer. And the worst part is that you're probably 100% right that this is how he views it (of course I don't think very highly of Cheney) but it still horrifies me.

Basically it comes down to the love of a child. Be their decision right or wrong in someones eyes.

Ok, let me clear this up right away...I DO NOT view homosexuality as being the same as a murderer at all. Which is why I said this probably wont come out right. What I'm saying is that it comes down to the love of your child even if you don't agree with them or their lifestyle. I was just using an example.

Since I don't know Mr. Cheney personally, I wouldn't presume to understand his reasoning. However, Sonny Bono's daughter (with Cher) Chastity is gay as well. Sonny voted against gay marriage when it came up for vote in California and it caused a rift between Sonny and Chastity that lasted until he died. It's sad but people seem to be able to justify just about anything they need to.
