FMIL, in true FMIL fashion, bought me yet another gift for Christmas that I never asked for, yet SWORE UP AND DOWN that I asked for. Now, I'm not sure what the hell it is. Is it just a cross? JT and I are not even remotely religious and she knows this, as she is not either. Do you hang things off of it? I think I am truely confused. Or does it just stand there?
maybe your FMIL should stick to just giving out cards????
(btw- i do think its really pretty though-- but i also love crosses.... but its funny just b/c its YOUR fmil... and theres just NO logic to her )

I know someone who is non-religious but she has a crucifix above her front door because she is superstitious and feels she should have one in the house.
Pretty strange. Maybe your FH should ask her about it.

Yea, I think it just stands there. I may be wrong but I want to say its a celtic cross, though not 100%. Do you have a book shelf that needs a book end?

When my dad saw it, he said, 'Ok, it's official. JT's mom is DEFINITELY a worse gift giver than MY mother!' And I will just add his mother gave him a sled at 16 when he asked for a stereo AND told him it was just what he asked for!

That is funny. I got something very similar to that from lenox. Just a cross with a stand. My Mom's friend gave it to us. It was a nice thought but I would never put that in my living room or anything. I looked it up online and it is worth $60. I am going to sell it on ebay. I can sell yours too if you like

That's too funny! Actually this one is lenox, as well. When I looked it up, it's worth like 50 bucks. JT said I can't sell it until after the wedding Whatever! He said we'll slap it on a mantle at our wedding then sell away on ebay!

You could hang jewerly from there--it may not be tall enough for necklaces, but it might be a nice 'perch' for bracelets....you are right...its a very odd gift.
