Anyone know how much a transmission should cost? Also do they always rebuild them now, as opposed to a new one?
One more....how much do batterys cost for a car?

transmissions are expensive even when rebuilding them. I had to have one rebuilt for a car I had and even with my brother doing all the work it was $1500.00.

buying a new tranny is useless, you might as well just buy a new car. A decent re-build will normally run you upwards of $1200.
A battery is simple, in most cases (for smaller cars) they cost less than $100.

I would say around $1500 for the tranny rebuild. It all depends on the transmission....
As for the battery....It should cost you anywhere between $60 and $125. It all depends on the car too
