OK, I think I'm going for it !....

I think I'm SOLD on having John Anthony's baptism party at Papa Joe's...

Especially now that it will have nostalgic meaning to me...

If I hurry and book the day he has open, he will give me the room that we had for the GTG (and i'm only having 50 or so people)...

I really cant think of any other restaurant that would compete with the price they have. THey had menus on the tables at the GTG and of course, thats was got me going..
$19.50 plus tax and gratuity pp.
Buffet dinner 4-8pm on a Sunday. church is at 1:30 so that works fine ! ( I dont have the food specifics in front of me...)
Includes unlimited wine, beer and soda!!!!
Cake (by the same vendor that made the cakes there that nite!)
and he said he'd also throw in Espresso (gotta have that or my family members might have withdrawals...my father was asking for Espresso at a Chinese Buffet once !! LMAO ! He was totally serious too !)

Should I DO IT !?? or is there any place that I'm might be missing out on checking out ?? I HAVE TO know that Im getting the best deal

Of course you know that for the whole party, I'll be thinking of all the laughs we had a table 4 ! (was that our table # ??? LOLLL)

Hurry and respond to this, because i'm sitting ancy and about to call or go to book it !


My only thing was that I have a wedding to go to the nite b4 at Leonards, but the church is at 1:30 so we have plenty of time to sleep till even 9, and get ready....
They have other days available to, but I'd have to either :
A) take one of the rooms in the front restaurant, or if it was free, he would give me both...
B) SHARE that room that we had for the GTG ! Thats cheesy, thats not a room to be shared !

Hi Anna, The only thing I didn't care for last night was I felt they didn't give us enough food -portion wise, and yes we were embarrased to go up for seconds but you're right we could of : )-We were talking about this and we were all still hungry, otherwise I think it's a wonderful idea!

Wow - I am so surprised to hear that people were still hungry! I guess no one wanted to go up for seconds! LOL!

Anyway, Anna...I think the price is very good and the room is nice. But it might be too big for only 50 people. If you'd rather have the space than go for it. I don't think you'll find a better deal. I payed almost twice that for Paul's christening party, and we only had about 40 or so people.

You're allowing a lot of time in between the church and the restaurant. Where will everyone go in between? Just something to think about.

I thought the food was very good. I ate everything on my plate. I really liked the veal parm,chicken and the ziti.I think its a great place to have the party. I wasn't hungry when I went home.

I think that it's a great choice-the price, food, location were great. The service seemed good too.

To those who were still hungry... Dont take this the wrong way, but it was a buffet ! You cant say youre still hungry about a buffet. That just means you didnt go up for seconds ! I can understand if you were still hungry after a sit-down dinner...but buffet, darling thats like saying 'no thanks, no more for me' and then saying youre hungry... SILLY WILLY ! (in my kiddie talk)
I went up for seconds and then regretted it, because I was soo full !!!

OK, so I got a great deal ! Beleive me, I know its a great deal. Ive had my dads 65th, and my parents anniversary parties and we paid way over $40pp and this was well over 5 years ago !

Edited to add. Claud good point. I thought about it. We will come back to my house. Which reminds me, I wanted to ask you guys, should I have like cheese and crackers or something ? I dont want everyone to fill up on junk before dinner. But I'm sure alot of us will be hungry to nibble on something. It will be mostly my immediate family that will come to church, maybe 25 of us. and I figure we will be home from lets say 2:45-3:30.
Any suggestions ?

Hmmm... maybe if you just put out veggies and dip, and maybe a fruit platter people will only nibble while they chat. I know with me, cheese and crackers is something I can't resist, so I'd probably eat more than I should, as opposed to crudite and fruit, which I just pick at.

We usually put out a platter of cheese and crackers and red grapes for company to nosh on before dinner.

Sounds like a great deal. If you want to try one more place, check out Pomodorino's. I have been to all three of them for showers and christening parties. They are supposed to be very reasonably priced. I always enjoy the food and remember three or four entree choices available at each party. They have a place by smithaven mall, one on motor pkwy. in Hauppauge and one in Garden City Pk.
