My DH grandmother every year regifts. See the key to regifting is that you should regift to some one who doesnt know the person who gave it to you and never give it to the same person. I gave her a snowman thing the first year Mike and I were together. The next year I went to his sisters house and sitting with all the presents I saw the snowman. I was like did grandma give that to you she goes ya why? Im like cause I gave it to her last year. One year MSIL aunt gave grandma towels and the next year she gave her back the same ones. Everytime I watch old School I think of it.

BUT by FAR THE BEST IS THAT every year since we have been together she has given me a pocketbook. And not just any pocketbook one of her old used pocketbook. This last christmas was the BEST one I ever got. It was GOLD AND BRONZE and Quilted Leather. It had a chain with Leather going through. You know like from the 80's but it was all scratched and when I opened it up it was all ripped up inside. I know you guys are like AWWW its his grandmother leave her alone shes old but she's not. And they have LOTS of money (like Mikes sister and Brother each just got houses we cant have one cause we wont mover to Florida) And its not like she is old and forgetfull. It really hurts my feelings no thought goes into it all she does is go in her closet and pull things out that she doesnt want and wrap them up.

SO WHAT WAS YOUR WORST GIFT OR REGIFT?

P.S. I will be bumping this thread Dec. 26 fot this years christmas.

my cousin always gets me awful gifts... one year she got me this green velvet purse with these rhinestones on it. it was terrible.

One year, my brother and his girlfriend at the time, got me this hideous printed fleece jacket that was reversible and had a drawstring waist. It was obviously cheaply made and it wasn't real polarfleece. I hated it and only wore it a few times, then I gave it to goodwill.

My friends and FH play a game called 'What is Maureens father going to get her for christmas this year?'

This is because I think my dad had a mental fashion breakdown 4 years ago..all of a sudden, the presents got so awful, I actually cry laughing as I show it to my mom and bros/sisters.

Last year? A ladies size 2x sweater that had huge pearl buttons dangling off the neck. I am a size medium.

The year before....a blanket made out of wool and horse hair that was so ugly, the salvation army wouldn't have taken it :( My dad told me 'but its great for camping!'. I've never camped a day in my life.

The year before...pajamas. Made out of what i think was brillo because the material was so rough it hurt my skin. They had pictures of scrambled eggs and coffee mugs on them.

There are all from the same man who used to give me broadway show tickets and gift certificates. I can only wonder what this year will bring!! FH definitely makes up for his lack up fashion though :)

that is funny, I got a pair of these too from DH's grandmother, to think it has bacon and eggs on it, who came up with that print anyway. eggs make me sick!!

LOL!! Mine had bacon on it too...i wonder where they were from?? They are some generic brand...I used them to clean things with i think...but they scratched the wood

What boyfriend was this. The sensitve artist, or dirt boy????

Anyway my worst prestent from an ex was a gold necklace that had a charm on it that said 'TAKEN' OMG i freaked and i said you can take it back!

Prob presents from the in-laws since I've been with DH. Last year was cool because they got us stuff off our registry - and then used some of the stuff themselves but that's another story.

But I've gotten - a really ugly Nassau County PD turtleneck(FIL is a cop) - I HATE turtlenecks.

MIL has very different taste thanme - old fashioned Victorian - she'll get me these old fashioned figuirines and then say - oh - this matches the one I got you last year so now you have a set!

Here's another one Im glad I prevented. First christmas FH and I were together, he wanted to buy my parents a gift. I was absolutely mortified when he took a Bonsai tree out of the bag!!! To make matters worse I took a good look at it and noticed it wasnt even real. It was made of plastic!!! Im so glad he showed me because I made him return it asap!!!

OMG! I have tobe htnakful..I've never really received bad gifts that bad.

My grandma would sometimes give me gifts that I was a little too old for, but just mildly. And she'd always ive me slippers and gloves.

My FMIL got me these HUGE puffy velvet scrunchees with like, CHARMS and BEADS on them..and she said they were 'festive'....ok when has she ever seen me wear that? The last tie I wore something like that I was in 5th grade..and I was not very cool in the 5th grade...lol

She also just gets me really cheap stuff, like this weird ring holder. I don't buy cheap things. I'll save until i have the money to buy something nice before Ill buy something that's gonna look cheesy or break in 2 min anyway.

I guess all in all I haven't gotten too many bad gifts. Oh except for my ex who got me NOTHING for christmas, when i took him to an aerosmith concert for xmas. he promised me he was getting em this tiger thing.Then he dumped me and took his new gf skiing for valentine's day! OUCH

First of all, I hate when people are stingy and give stupid gifts. Saying that, I will mention my worst gift I received.

I received as part of that Christmas gift game (you are assigned a number and if you have a higher number you can take someone else's gift from them). I got a number in the middle. I orginally got some tool thing (bad enough, I never fixed anything in my life). Then I was able to trade and I got this weird starfish Christmas ornament. First of all, I don't celebrate Christmas and second of all, it was butt ugly!

Speaking of Christmas gifts, it always bothers me when I am part of a Secret Santa or grab bag for the holidays and I always seem to end up with the Christmas themed gift which I can never use. I wish people would think of other people and get more generic gifts everyone can use.

my uncle and his wife would also give my father and my brother cash and buy mom and i gifts every year there was a contest between my mother and i who would get the worst gift.
one year i recieved a pepto pink sweather with peals it was bad enough she knew i was not into pink but the sleeve on the one arm was longer then the other lol. my mom received a cute mrs claus antimated doll with a missing arm lol. i received a cracked candy dish and my mom a blouse 6 sizes too big another year it was soo funny we couldnt wait to see what we would get every year

This year we are combining my family and FH family for Christmas at his mom's. So we are doing secret santa for all the grown ups so we don't spend too much money. My FH sends me an email that he forwarded to my 'secret' (my Fh doesn't know the meaning of the word) santa, my FSIL, his brother's wife. He replies Christine loves silver earrings!
Here are the problems with this:
1- our limit is 100- silver earrings are like 20 bucks, even if they are really well nice.
2- My FH gave me diamond studs last year for my birthday. I NEVER have taken them off, except to clean them, since he gave them to me.

So I don't know what makes me angrier- my cheap FSIL or my FH for not even realizing I haven't taken his earrings off since he gave them to me.

I don't know why this is making me so angry- it just does....
