OK just got back from the ER...
Funny story... I'm typing soooo slow right now b/c I only have one hand to type with. The left hand is bandaged... I was on my way to Homegoods to look at bedding tonight when I came across a cat in the road-- laying there.
I thought, oh great the poor thing is dead but it stuck his little head up so my heart dropped. Here I'm thinking: obviously she has been hit by a car and may be close to death. So, I pull over to at least get her out of the road so she won't get run over 500 times. I pull over, stop traffic and walk up to her-- no cuts, wounds, etc. I thought- must be internal. I picked her up and she was limp
so I said- at least let me take her to a Vet, if they can't save her then they can euthanize her so she won't suffer...
I scoop her up, she was VERY calm and dosile, in shock... I put her in my car and honestly, I started to cry-- thinking, this poor thing and if she dies in my car on the way I'm going to be so sad... So, I get there and she didn't make a peep the whole time- so I'm thinking, she probably passed away... I get there and she is awake! So, I go to pick her up to bring her in the office and she FLIPS OUT (apparently she is ferile, wild and I didn't know this b/c at first, she was in shock)... So she tries to runs, bites me BAD, scratches me really bad.. so I chase after her. She is obviously petrified so I get her again-- get bitten a few more times, scratched, etc... and again-- Finally, I open the door of the office- grab her and toss her asss in the vestibule!
I look down at mt hand/arm and it's covered in blood (greeeaaat!!) so I went inside and they put a towel over her and took her in the back-- she was beat up bad from the car hitting her... so they told me the best thing b/c of that and the fact that she was wild was to put her down. I said OK... they were really worried about me... told me to go to an ER right away so I did...
About four or so hours later here I am typing w/ one hand
I shouldn't laugh but I can't help it-- I could have gotten and could still get infected real bad and they are testing the cat for rabies
which they highly doubt she had (thank God!!) so at this point I got a bunch of shots, x-rays, drained out, antibiotics, etc. It's really swollen but I'm OK... I need to watch for infection though b/c the DR said people het hospitalized for this 'a lot'.
They counted, when it was all said and done-- about 14 bite marks/puncture wounds ![]()
She didn't know I was trying to help and was scared... I just can't help but love animals and I try to save them whenever I can... I feel I did the right thing I just hope everything turns out OK. To this day I have saved the lives of: two birds, six dogs (one as recent as last week) and two cats (not counting this one b/c she had to be put down)... If you ever see some jackass running down the street trying to save an animal- that's me.![]()
I always say I like animals better than people
Well, that was my night (45 minutes later lol the post is done-- God, typing w/ one hand SUX!!)
Thanks to Nicole, Vinny and my parents for coming to be with me in the ER... Nicole especially, that was so nice!! Thanks for the food!!
You are a great friend
ETA: the only thing that really sux was I had to pay 75 bucks!!!
to get her put to sleep!!! They charged me half off the normal price
but still I had to pay it-- I didn't say anything at the time but now I'm a little annoyed b/c there I am bleeding, writing out the check!! Vinny said he is going to call first thing tomorrow to ask them to 'do the right thing' and give us back the check considering I needed to pay 50 bucks in co-pays and I need to get two RX's filled...
and since the cat wasn't mine! ![]()
