ok kinda a silly wisom teeth ????

OK well I have to get all my wisdom teeth out and recently they have been bothering me but i'm a BIG BABY when it comes to the dentist so should I just do them all at once?? How bad is it if anyone has gotten it done??

I've gotten 2 out at a time...

Both visits were fine. I think it took longer to numb the area then to take it out.

I even went to a birthday party the night I had my 2nd set removed.

Just remember to ice it right after so it will reduce the swelling.

It'll be fine....and i'm a big time chicken when it comes to that kind of stuff.

If you do it all at once, they will most likely have to put you to sleep. You will want to bring someone along to drive you back home. You will probably need to take that day off from work. If you do it one at a time, they can do local, and you should be able to go to work afterward, however do you want to go four times? I'd say do it all at once.

Funny you should ask-I just had two taken out yesterday! It hurts! I originally wanted all 4 taken out at once, but the doctor didn't want to do that-Well let me tell you I am so glad I only had two taken at a time. The oral surgeon put me to sleep and I felt nothing during the procedure or in the hour or two following, but when the initial stuff wears off, it hurts. He gave me Vicodin but I am still uncomfortable and it throbs! It is bearable though and definately worth doing because the pain that can arise from having them impacted and possibly infected could be worse!

I had all of mine out at once and I am glad....they tried to put me asleep but my vein collapsed so then they just numbed the whole area....didn't feel anything during it---the pain came later when the meds wore off (and before I took the pain meds they gave me).

I wasn't able to eat or do much for about 5 days but it wasn't a horrible experience during it! GL!!!

First I had one pulled because it was impacted. Then he set me up to have all three pulled. I don't remember a thing, I was knocked out.

Getting knocked out is the way to go! I went to sleep when I got home and by the time I woke up the next day I was fine.

are they impacted? if they arent then its not so bad, i was asleep when they did mine and when i woke up i took asprin and i was fine, but my fh wisdom teeth were badly impacted and when he woke he was in pain for a few days... but if i were you i would do them all now so you have no worries for the wedding

I did them all at one time, it wasn't a big deal. Glad I did it that way, got it over with in one shot!

I had all 4 pulled at the same time. The first couple of days was ugly. Painkillers helped a ton and I had a steady diet of Ice-cream After that it was fine and I was glad to have it all over with.

I had all 4 of mine taken out last year. I had no problems at all. He gave me pain killers and I was fine. Good luck

I had all 4 taken at once. I don't want to scare you, but it was a nightmare, my face swelled so huge and I couldn't eat anything solid for 2 weeks. That being said, I probably would still have done them all at once because otherwise I would never have had the other ones done. My old roomate had all 4 of hers done, and she was totally fine the next day.... so I guess it just depends on the person. Good Luck!

I had all 4 taken out at the same time. I honestly think it's the better way to go. Mainly because they'll probably put you to sleep which means you won't have to hear or see anything they're doing while they're taking the teeth out. I used to work for an oral surgeon and I'm not so sure that you'd want to be awake for this procedure. Especially if your teeth are hard to get out. Plus, if you get two out and then they need to take the other two out..do you REALLY want to get back in that chair a second time knowing the pain/swelling that occurred the first time? I doubt it. I say get it all over with so you don't have to go back!! It's easier that way. Keep the ice on during the night, and the advil or whatever painkillers they prescribe and it won't be that bad.

i had one taken out during a normal dentist cleaning appointment. it freaked me out cause i was awake, i almost passed out after because i was so scared. hehe i got some oxygen and was all cool. Then i had to go to a surgeon because the other 2 were impacted and needed to be cut out so i got knocked out for them. I suggest being knocked out and doing 2 at a time. Just so you caneat on one side cause it will be uncomfortable for a while. No worries thought it will be ok.

wow...I just had 3 pulled a week ago today...all at once and while I was awake. You will be fine...the worst part was the needles. It hurt and I'm a BIG BABY TOO! It was bearable...The Dr. gave me Vicodin also...it helped alot...only needed them for a few days...ate mostly soup, ice cream and eggs...you will be fine! After the needles were done all 3 teeth were out in less the 2 minutes flat...I'm not exaggerating...2 minutes. I worked myself into a frenzie...and when it was all over I was relieved.

If you have any more questions...feel free to ask! But don't worry, you will be FINE!

Good Luck!!!

Re: ok kinda a silly wisom teeth ????

My husband is a dentist and funny enough, while he was in dental school he helped one of the fourth year students (he was a third year at the time) pull all four of my wisdom teeth. (That is not how we met; we were already dating at the time.)

I'd talk to your dentist or surgeon and ask his/her opinion. I had no problems, but my teeth were pretty much fully erupted, except for one that actually required a surgical extraction. I was awake for the whole thing and had received lidocaine and taken a valium and was supposed to be receiving nitrous. I kept telling them I didn't feel it and they kept cranking it up and laughing at me that I must be 'out of it'. Turns out...the hose was kinked, but luckily they realized that before getting to the fourth tooth - the one that needed to be cut away. After the procedure they gave me Tylenol 3 and Percoset, but I never did need the Percoset.

What to do depends on your situation and how bad you feel also depends on how your teeth are - erupeted or impacted. Most of the dentists that I know advocate pulling them all at once for the reasons outlined in earlier posts. I think it makes most sense to get them out all at once and therefore you minimize your time at the dentist and your time off work and time in recovery.

Just be careful to avoid dry sockets!
