Mexico! I've never been there, and JT's never been ANYWHERE, so we need some info. I have all the travel books and what not, but they're useless, as far as I'm concerned. So tell me what I need to know!

Thanks!

Ok, sunblock...check!

JT's Irish skin won't hold up down there, but I think my Puerto Rican skin will last a couple of hours more than his

Take 1 pepto bismol tablet per day ... keep the stomach coated from bacteria and for all the alcohol consumption!

Dont drink the water! Just about every hotel has purified water for drinking and cooking but try not to swallow the water when you brush your teeth or shower...
Try and bring traveler's checks as well as cash, just in case.
Pack a outfit and bathingsuit in your carryon bag just in case..

HAVE A GREAT TIME!

If you're worried about stomach problems, drink a glass or two of red wine with your meals. The alcohol can help kill of some potential bad bacteria.
sunblock, sunblock, sunblock!

Like everyone else has posted - definitely the sunblock!! Also a hat, def. helps to keep you cooler.

Also I found it really helpful to have lots of small American money ($1, 5, 10) it's much easier for tipping and cab rides. It feels like you're always shelling out $ here & there (the pool waitress, the guy who sets up the beach chairs, etc)

Have a great time! I love Mexico! On our honeymoon we also went snorkeling (2 hour trip) and the jungle ATV ride (You also get to swim in caves) - both were a lot of fun. Just don't wear white - the ATV ride is really dusty and dirty

Well when we went in Late August, it was very hot! A lot of the hotels-lobby, and some hotel restaurants didn't have much A/C-some of the lobbies are the open kind. So we found that the minute you step out of your room you get very sweaty (well the men) when we were in Cancun, the public bus is the way to travel to and from town etc. when going on tours to the ruins bring a hat, sunglasses and put lots of sun block - there is little shade and the sun is very hot. Besides not drinking the water, I happened to get sick from drinking a beer when we went to see a bull fight, so drink the bottled beer with caution. I don't know if that has happened to anyone else, but it put me in bed w/nausau and bathroom problems and when my husband told one of the hotel staff, they said it could have been from the beer.

Also, I recommend swimming with the dolphins in cancun, I think it's a lot cheaper than anywhere else. You can do that in Cancun, but I recommend that if you purchase the video that they film for you, do not let it pass through the bag check xray because it must have ruined the tape, since the vhs tapes they use aren't the best quality.

I know it's been said before...but SUNBLOCK! I also thought my Puerto Rican skin would withold the heat...but no way! I got burned so bad the first day that I had to run out and buy Caladryl. SPF 45 all the way! And for the first time in my life I freckled...I freakin' freckled! The last pic on my review (when we're leaving) is during the day - but we're so dark we're hardly visible! LOL

I am not a sightseer and I'm not sure if that's what you want to do on your HM anyway - so I say skip Tulum and Xel-Ha my DH and I hated it (again, we're drinkers, not seers). We did LOVE the ATV/Speed Boat tour we did. It was out of Puerto Morelos and it was so much fun. I saw the Coba tours vehicle and it def looked fun - but my DH is a chicken so no jungle tour for us. Definitely get a couples massage on the beach - we did that and it was the best!

I heard Cozumel is beautiful...we just never made it past our hotel.

And enjoy - I am SO jealous! It is beautiful over there...and the hotel you're staying at is awesome too...have lots of fun and take pictures (but I think you know that! ).

Don't forget- not drinking the water includes not getting ICE in your drinks outside of the hotel restaurant/ bar.

Put an extra outfit and a bathing suit in your carry on--- I have been on flights where we had luggage problems, and it is much nicer to let the airline deal with it while you're at the beach, then while you're watching everyone else at the beach b/c you have no suit!

If you wear contacts, bring extra-- they tend to get lost during all of the water activities.

Don't forget sunglasses.

Don't worry about bringing fancy clothes...just some skirts and you'll be dressed fine to go anywhere.

Have a great trip!
