Ok ladies, I'm stumped...

How do I address the ouside envelope for:

Mr. John Smith & Guest

... and his 2 kids??

What about the other guests whose kids are invited?

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith & family
or
The Smith Family

?

TIA!!!

When i did my calligraphy it said to write the children's names on the second line:
Mr. John Smith & Guest
Jack and Jane

Do you have an inner envelope, i think you can just write their names on the inner envelope

Never The Smith Family. From what I have read, seen, heard. If the kids are under 18 it would say

Outer: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

Inner: Mr. and Mrs. Smith
James Smith
Amy Smith

or

John and Jane
James and Amy

Something like that. If the kids are over 18 they should get their own invitation.

I used Crane's etiquette for all my envelope addressing (with some minor exceptions for special people). According to them:

Outer Envelope:

Mr. John Smith

Inner Envelope:

Mr. Smith and guest
Jonathan and Susan (if the kids are under 18, if over 18 they get their own invite)
