OK ladies need your advice...

OK ladies need your advice...

So yesterday was my E-party (everything went fabulous and pretty much all of our friends and family attended)..I thought we made everyone happy until...

Fh gets a FB message from a girl who we knows mother telling him how upset the girl and her bf were that they were not invited to the e-party! First off our party was for our family (which is rather large) and our close friends (wound up being about 90 ppl in total) and it was a backyard tent party so we did not want any more then 100 guests for the e-party (reasonable I think....its not suppose to be a mini wedding!). Second this girl and her bf are younger then us (actually her bf is friends with FH's brother who is 21..we basically met them through FH's brother and do on occasion hang out with them...but by no means do I call her up just to chat or invite them to go on a double date!) Yes, we do plan on inviting them to the wedding but to invite everyone who we are inviting to the wedding to the e-party seems ridiculous to me! and third....the obvious super annoying part...her freaking mom FB my FH to tell him that they were 'just so upset all night about it!'...really? We are not in high school...our mom's do not need to come fight our battles ...

FH said to not worry about it..he will talk to the mother...but I am just so annoyed, upset, mad, and don't know if I should be.

Sorry that was so long but I had to vent...what should I do...do I still invite them to the wedding? (like I had planned too)...or do you think they will think its now a pity invite..am I wrong..I just don't know...

i wouldn't worry about it. just send an invite - if they want to come they will and don't explain yourselves about the party. i wouldn't not send one out of fear that they will think it's a pity invite. if they feel that way, they won't go (although i doubt that will be the case).

it's very immature for them to be 'so upset.'

It was rude for that mom to say anything!

However, i would have FH respond and explain that you would have loved to invite everyone but you had a limited # of people you were allowed and most were family.

Thats just really aggravating!!!!!!!! Id say invite them anyway if they dont come its their loss! The engagement party is not for everyone on your wedding list!

I'd still invite them. The wedding is 8 months away and if their going to hold a gudge for the next 8 months then that's there problem.

FH & I agree about the eparty. We had a bbq with friends, informal and just had a good time. We only invite our close friends whom we talk to on a regular basis.

Overall i wouldn't worry abotu it. I'd be upset too about the FB message. Try looking at the bigger picture. If they can't talk to you themselves and have their mom FBing your FH then it's not worth you time stressing over. If their 'that upset' they should talk to you themselves

I'd be annoyed at first but they may not have even asked the mom to FB him. So I wouldn't hold it against them

You know how moms can be sometimes

Very true, the mom was just the icing on the cake lol! It just reminds me of my cheerleaders that I coach (which are in HS) when they dont like something and dont say anything to me ...but then i get a nasty email from their mom that night. I wish she or he would have just said something to us.

So annoying and rude..Engagement Parties are always having less than what you invite you your wedding! It's the people you see and talk to most often or are close family!..tell that lady and her daughter to beat it!

We did the same thing, a backyard party in a tent. We had to cut the list so even some of our extended family wasnt invited. I'd invite them to the wedding. If they dont come it's on them.

I don't think that anyone should even acknowledge the message, no need for FH to talk with the mom. That will just add more fuel to the fire. Just seems like they are the type of people who always need to make drama. Sorry that happened....

Oh and 90 people is a lot! We're only having 50 at our e-party!

omg i wish i could have only had 50..both of our families are so big and we have a huge amount of friends. Unfortunately we just couldn't get it any lower. Food (even if it is just catered and you are not having it at a restaurant) is super expensive..on top of everything else that we needed to rent.

i'm sorry this even came up at your eparty. they should have had more common sense and common courtesy would say to wait and discuss this at another time.
there are always reasons why people do not get invited to events, and you had yours.
i hope it all works out with them!
