ok ladies - this is a doosey - i need advice - LONG

so - here's the long and short of it.
FH works on wall street for a hedge fund - we all know the craziness with the market lately, anyway - he was laid off on friday. our date is October 17th. we have the church, hall, photographer, dj, room block, save the dates just arrived. i'm about to book a florist, was really ready to buckle down and do dress shopping etc...now i feel like it would be totally irresponsible for me to move forward. without getting too much into personal figures - we have just about enough saved up to cover the wedding in its entirety. plus we've been making payments on the RH and put deposits down with vendors.....but i'm just so worried - what if he doesn't find something? what do I do here girls....I have my STD's do i send them out? Mind you i'm the ONLY one who feels this way - he's like 'we'll be fine, why would you stop' and well, he is the finance guy lolol...but with all thats going on in the world, him now looking for a job, the economy tanking....am I just being paranoid? what do i do girls?

I'm kind of having a bit of a pitty party for myself right now as i'm envisioning city hall :) lolol. listen - in my heart of hearts i'm marrying this man on Friday October 17th and THAT is whats important...this sadness / stress is more from an event management perspective. and also falls into the 'why every time something good happens doesn't something go wrong with it' category :)

soorrrryyy soooo loooongggg!

So sorry about FH!

If FH feels that everything will be ok, then he must feel confident in that he will find another job quickly. Why don't you hold off on sending out the save the dates for another 2 weeks or so. Give FH some time to get his resume out and go on some interviews. It might also help his morale and confidence if you keep up with the wedding planning. To cancel now, so quickly after he was let go may make him feel less confident in finding another position.

Aww hun!

I would go and book a florist and get that out of the way.

Then if it gives you piece of mind, hold off on sending out the STDs for a week or 2 to see what happens with FH.

I say send them out. I feel like cancelling the wedding would cost you more in the long run with the vendors. Trust in your FH. Maybe cut back on the 'extras' just in case. Do the low CP instead of big ones...Don't do the seafood boat for the CH stuff like that...

Good luck to you and fh.

i am so sorry for your fh

i would sit down with him and have a serious convo. Seems like you two already put in a decent amount of money and you said you have it covered for the rest. Now with this situation see how it will work. Dont give up yet, you two can work it out

Yeh just to be safe, wait until yor FH gets his bearings to start going on interviews and whatnot. As much as have this wedding with FH is glamarous and full of memory, you also don't want to be put in a position to owe anyone or worse ask someone for money. Your FH sounds confident so he should find something soon. Good Luck!

I work on wall street too. Things are rough, but not so rough that he shouldn't be able to find something else.

Don't worry too much, if he says it will be okay, he's pretty confident that he will find something.

Good luck!

you girls rock! i just needed some 'don't worry' from independent party's. Yeah i've really really been focusing on being supportive of him and keeping his morale up. we've only talked about it once or twice. one of those time i simply told him that the big party wasn't what was important to me...i wanted him to know that.
alright gals - i'll let you know!
thanks for the eHugs!!!

I am very sorry about FH
I would sit down and look at the finances and see what would happen if he has no income for 2 months, 3 months
And take it from there---since he is in the financial industry, I am sure he will be able to find something quickly
I hope the best for you

I am so sorry to hear that has happned to FH and you I agree to hold off on the STD's for a few weeks. I would also take the time to shop around for the absolute best prices you can on your remaining vendors, without compromising the look you are going for. I really think you guys will be ok. Try and stay positive in your mind and in your heart. We will all keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers for the next few weeks. Keep us updated
