What's the difference between a groomsman and an usher? I don't have any ushers...should I get some????? Are they a necessity????

actually, I was curious about the same thing...
i think maybe the ushers help seat people, etc, but are not a part of the actual ceremony... while the groomsmen actually stand up with the groom during the ceremony?
just a guess... they could very well just be two names for the same thing.

I was wondering the same thing but if I can recall correctly...the groosman at my friends wedding acted as the ushers in the beginning anyway so unless you have more people you want involved in the wedding I think they can double HTH

thats what i thought! but i was just playing around with my knot.com webpage and it asked me to list my attendants...for FH's attendants there's a drop down box with different title options. Groomsman and usher were 2 different things so it confused me....i confuse easily

I believe groomsmen are in the actual wedding party and ushers are the men that escort people to their seats at the ceremony.
I am 99% that's the difference
