One of my cousins from South Carolina emailed me and asked if she could bring her kids to my wedding. I have nothing against kids and my FIRST cousins who are children are going to be at the wedding. I just can't have my cousins' children there because that would make like 2-3 extra tables, I have 300 people coming to the wedding, I have to draw the line somewhere.
Is this a good response?
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Shelly and Steven are more then welcome to come to the church , but they can't come to the reception. Since Jeremy and I have such big families we could only keep the guest list to first cousins, unfortunately we would have way too many people if we included our cousin's children.
TIA!

truthful without attitude ....works for me.
I am sure she'll understand, if not you cannot please everyone. You have to do what you can afford even if it means hurting feelings

Re: ok response...
If they are the only ones from out of town I might make an exception. I may be doing the same for my own friend who's coming from out of town. If not, I would probably offer to help find them a sitter for the reception.

I'd also offer to help her find a babysitter if the children are young.

FH and I aren't inviting any kids unless they are from out of town.
JMO - Unless they have people here that they trust to watch the kids or you have a lot of OOT cousins with children - I would say let them come.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I don't think your question was whether or not you should let them come, but rather, was your response appropriate. And in my opinion, it was :o)
