Dont let her bother you....your getting married before she does so there really isnt a competition.

you are playing into mindless, immature nonsense , just answer her question and she will prob. leave you alone. answering a question with a flat out like lie like that only fuels her immature behavior.

I wouldn't waste a signle minute on her.

I had something similir happen. Had someone I know getting married a week before me ask to see a picture of my dress before she bought one and I said no.. that only my mom and sis get to see it... so she called my mom and asked my mom to send her a picture. Thankfully my mom called me first to ask and I flipped out.

I realized how jealous she was and found it pathetic and just laughed it off. S*cks to be those girls.

I don't understand the big deal. Is this a custom wedding dress? Obviously MANY people before you bought this dress and wore it.. Maybe she is just making nice conversation with you about a special day and she isn't 't in competition. Before I got married I loved coming on here and seeing all the dresses everyone picked out. All my friends showed me their dresses... - did you really only show 2 people the picture or did you just say that?

My SIL and I wore very similar dresses with pickups- we had 100 of the same guests. Neither of us cared - because it doesn't matter. Even though I got my dress 1st, she got married first. I never thought twice about it.

My sister, brother, and I all got married within 8 months of each other and had an awesome time planning together and being happy for one another. We always say it was the best year of our lives. We used a lot of the same vendors too. I think it's nice to share these things with others you are close with. Look at this board for instance - isn't this a great place to get ideas from ideas - that's not being jealous. I think it's a compliment when others like your ideas. When did asking simply questions become competition and jealousy?

If you are confident in yourself and your decisions, then it doesn't matter what month, day, or dress you wear for your wedding and what other people do. Just be happy and enjoy the moments.

Its a very long complicated story that I really dont wish to type. I am too lazy. But trust me It wasnt just for a friendly convo. I have 26 years experience with this person to know better.

Are you sure she doesn't just want to know for some fun friendly wedding chat and bonding? It seems premature to jump and say she is competing with you when your weddings are an entire year apart. There's really no competition there. Not only that... but your wedding is first... so whatever you are 'scared' of that you think she might try to copy... you would have done it first so any common guests would clearly know that.

And if she already bought her dress... I don't see what the big deal is with telling her who made your dress. I think your obvious lie made you look bad. Why lie? Tell the truth. And if you adamently didn't want to tell her who made it... then you could have just said 'I'm not telling anyone anything about my dress (except my mom or whoever) and that would have sounded better than 'I don't know'.
By telling those little lies you are feeding into what you believe to be going on here.. and thus are just as guilty... if that is in fact what she's even doing in the first place.

Personally I wouldn't let this bother me. Actually I would try to help her as much as possible, seeing as though I'm ahead on the planning process and have learned a thing or two. I have a friend who recently got engaged... NOT ONCE did I EVER or would I ever hold back information in an effort to not help her or to avoid feelings of 'competition'. I think each persons wedding is just that... there own. You can't really steal someone's wedding.

That's exactly what your answer to her should have been. Not an 'I don't know'... oh I'm caught... so tell me your designer first.... that's where you feed into it.

I wouldn't focus on any of this. It reminds me of romper room. Your wedding is so close... focus on that instead!

ETA-i didnt know it was your sister's friend. I thought it was your actual sister. I typed a long reply to it and re read it to say it was your sisters friend.

Anyway, she's probably just basking in the glory of her upcoming wedding. Like the other girls said, try to let it roll off your back. People will compete with you no matter what situation you're in. You just have to try to not let it get to you and not let THEM know it's bothering you..
