I do! I actually get panic attacks just thinking of going to the DR to get a shot or seeing a needle on tv. I have to go get a physical for work soon and I am already having severe panic attacts! My heart races, I feel nausous, I shake and I feel like I'm going to pass out.
When I do go to the Dr. and he's going to give me a shot or (what I need for the physical) a TB test, I am worse than a child! They have to hold me down and I yel l and scream! I am so embarrassed but I can't conscously help it! I would rather just get it over with!
I know this is not normal, but does anyone else suffer from this? If so, what do you do to help?

I did until I was 18. I donated blood for a local pediatric cancer patient to get over my fear, and I've been fine since. I even got a tattoo after that!!!

me, Me, ME, ME!!! The same thing happens to me! I can't offer you any words of wisdome to help because I have yet to get over or fiure out a way to deal with this fear.

I work on a preschool and I am over due for my physical and I will not go because of the TB test! My boss mentions it every day to me and although I know I have to do it, I am freaked. ANY kind of needle sends me into a severe attack...even days before if I know I have to get one. I wont sleep the night before, I literally cry and when I am there I cant stop shaking. Blood tests are the absolute worst for me. I pass out each and every time. When I wake up, I usually throw up after that. Its such a fear that drives me insane. Now more than ever because I want a baby in the near future so bad but I am so deathly afraid of everything coming along with the pregnancy, I fear it so bad!
Last time I went for a blood test I used my walkman. I turned it on as high as it would go and my mother (yes I am going to be 29 lol) held my face away so I couldnt look. I have to admit, them music helped because I cant stand even the sound of the wrapper opening for the alcohol swab. I am so happy I am not alone out there!

YES YES YES ME ME ME ME ME!!! I hate needles!! I cry when they give my son a shot LOL
All the needles I got when I was pregnant was horrible!
I do have to say I would rather get a needle than a finger prick though!

Im fine with needles, but my FH is terrified of them!!!! Its really funny. He refused to go to a doctor because he didn't want to have his blood taken.

I'm scared of them I went to the doctor the other day for my foot and he told me my options were to go on meds for 5 days, or get a shot of cortizone....my eyes started welling up as soon as he mentioned the shot...I think i scared him.... needless to say, i went with the 5 days of steroids
if it's not better by monday though, i might get the shot....and cry through it

I am SO glad I'm not alone! I really need to go for this physical and just can't do it!
The last TB test I had done I had to have my DH SIT on my lap and hold my arm out so I couldn't move it away! I ended up biting his back so hard I left teeth marks! It didn't heal for at least a week! LOL!
Needless to say he's not looking forward to my next appt.

ME!!! Ever since I had a diabetes test when I was 8 I've had this insane fear of needles. So bad that when I had to get a TB shot in high school, I passed out in front of the ENTIRE school (we had to walk up to the stage, get the shot and then walk off... yeah, well, I never walked off... ). Then, I got myself so worked up that from then on not only would I pass out, but then I would go into a little mini-seizure of sorts. My Dr. refused to take blood from me and sent me to the hospital everytime! My parents got so worried about it that they sent me to biofeedback, and it definitely helped - never passed out again after that. Now that I'm pregnant and have to get blood drawn almost every week, I'm starting to get used to it, thank goodness!!!

I am a blood donor, received allergy shots and have 4 tattoos one of which spans my lower back. Ain't no way I am afraid. I do see how people are though. It is a legitimate fear.

no i been getting needles in my arm since i was a baby and i dont even feel them going in my arm anymore because i am so used to it.

I hate needles, but I can usually control my fear by turning away, clenching on to something, and closing my eyes. I usually get a little nauseous and shaky, but that's it. The part about the blood test that freaks me out is when they have to tie the rubber thing around your forearm to get more blood to come out!

I faint. I have to ask them to let me lie down when I get blood taken.
I always faint when I cut myself.

I'm pretty similar. I donate blood anually and I have 3 tattoos. I'm not scared of needles at all. It most definately is a legitimate fear though. I'm terrified of ants. They seem like nothing compared to needles! Sometimes you can't help what you're afraid of.

There IS a way around the TB test - my FH has a skin reaction to the prong test and ALWAYS gets a false positive. Whenever he needs a physical for work (he's an elem. teacher too!), he needs to get a chest xray in place of the TB test.
You could always just tell the person doing the physical that you have a history of false positives, and would prefer the chest xray - insurance will cover it.

I HATE NEEDELS SO MUCH!!!!! I don't know how I'm gonna handle all the blood tests once I get pregnant. I have managed to dodge shots and blood withdrwals for a few years now. As soon as I see that needle in the doctor's office I start sweating from my face and I either puke or black out..Dh is the complete opposite of me, he doesen't mind them-um yeah he thinks I'm crazy..
