ok, this thread may be taken the wrong way, but oh well..
On this board I have noticed that people take things way too personal, I will admit I on occasion have taken a post to heart, but we have to realize this is the internet. I often wonder how one survives in day to day life if they allow cyber people to get to them.
This is supposed to be fun and a departure from our so called 'real lives'
I had to get that out

I hear ya! I've noticed this A LOT lately, especially whenever you post (I love your posts, b/t/w/ .. always so interesting) You throw out interesting topics of conversation, but somehow, someway, they get turned into something 'negative'
That is why I posted the 'full moon' thread just a minute ago .. I notice everyone is very sensitive lately, and I know that 99.9% of the time noone's original posts are intended to insult anyone in the least.

I think one of the biggest reasons for this is that you can't detect emotions when reading text. So much of the time someone could be typing something, meaning it sarcastically, but it either sounds wrong when it posts or someone misinterprets it. But if you were actually speaking to that person, it would be perfectly clear that he or she was kidding. Know what I mean?

I think it's because it's really difficult to properly express yourself on a flat screen and we talk about really sensitive issues.
Lots of times things are misinterpretted.
Lots of times the wrong word is chosen.
ETA:
Lots of times peoples opinions are not respected.
I have met wonderful people here so it's a little more then a cyber world for me.

Thanks Felicia, I try to post interesting things, but as you say they sometimes get taken the wrong way- oh well

I agree with you 100%, but I also find that sometimes people try to stir the pot with things that they know will cause controversy. All I can say is that people should not feel the need to respond to every post that they do not agree with.

Personally I don't understand when you read a message and it can be taken in a good way or a bad way, WHY do so many people automatically take it in a bad way? Know what I mean? Why not ask before you snap?
I've seen it a few times and I have chosen to give the poster the benefit of the doubt because I don't want to argue - I have more than my share of stress in my every day life (as do we all) - I don't need it in my home away from home!

Personally i just don't like it when a post comes up asking our opinions (ie what color is the sky?) and then when someone answers purple, they get attacked for having that opinion. When someone posts their opinion that is just what they are doing giving an opinion not attempting to start an open forum battle.

I think this is one of the major reasons for arguments/misunderstandings over the internet. I myself can be very sarcastic so I need to choose my words carefully when online

i'm with everyone here. i personally don't know how someone can 'attack' someone's thought when he or she does not know the person. secondly, i think it is important to realize that a sense of humor is key in life. and it will be REALLY necessary on our wedding days, so if you are missing it now, what will happen when $h!t really hits the fan???
