OK - TIPS

OK, i know this has been done before....but what are you giving everyone for tips! also, what are you going to do if it's 'their' business.

thanks!

still undecided...

i really don't see the need to tip those who work for themselves, however if they truly go above and beyond i can see myself tipping them.

i somewhat agree with you too!!!

OK, so what are we tipping for everyone? i can't find my 'etiquette' checklist!!

Re: OK - TIPS

I was thinking...

$100 for pics, video, DJ
$50 for DJ assistant
$2/person for Maitre'd

when the limo co says the tips are included do you still throw the drivers an extra tip?

Re: OK - TIPS

what if you have a band? i have a DJ/MC who owns his own business but then has band members work for him....
what would you tip them?

what are you guys tipping your maitre d', hair and make-up people, and day of coordinator (if you are having one)

don't know about this one...

currently my band leader is not going 'above and beyond' with helping me coordinate some sheet music (even though he stated himself this was 'his job'), but i know they will play well and that is all that i am really concerned with. we have one band leader and 6 members - i can't see myself giving an envelope to each person, if anything i would give it to the leader and trust he would distribute appropriately...

Re: OK - TIPS

see, i dunno!

ok, here is what i was thinking -
hair - 20 bucks
make-up - 20 bucks
(but my BM's are paying for their own, so do they tip??)

maitre d - 1 or 2 dollars per person ( i have two, so i dunno)

6-piece band - ??
DJ - ??
photo - ??
video - ??
wedding coordinator - ??
limos - ??

i would have them pay and you take care of the tip

maitre d - 1 or 2 dollars per person ( i have two, so i dunno)

we have a maitre d 'fee' so he is not getting anymore from me and he is not expecting to...

6-piece band - ??

6-piece band - $50/person
DJ - no clue
photo - i can see myself giving an extra $100-$200 if i love my photos and he helps me with my album as promised...
video - no clue, not having one
wedding coordinator - no clue, not having one
limos - ug, maybe $25-30 if i am satisfied?

this is what i am guessing at this point, i really don't know what i am going to actually do...

Re: OK - TIPS

Hair: $20 extra for each hairdresser. I paid for EVERYONE'S hair...

Makeup $30 extra. He did my makeup, my mom's and my niece. And, he did little extra's for 3 of my BM's and he didn't ask for any additional money...

Band: $100 each to the 2 lead singers. $50 for the guy who sang at some points...

An additional $150 to be split among the remaining 4 band memners. (I also covered their dinner)

$300 for Maitre D (125 guests)

$50 for bridal attendant

(nothing for limos- not only did they get the 20%, but they refused to listen to my directions, got lost, THEN asked me for directions and refused to leave my hall without an additional $175 for overtime charges)

I'm still thinking about some sort of gift that I want to give to my florist because she was OUTSTANDING!!!

Photo and Video: not sure yet. I don't have my final video yet. And, both my photographer and videographer are the owners of the companies

yeah, put everything in envelopes and designate someone as the 'tip person' to make sure all the vendors get paid...

That's a good idea. But, I ended up tearing into most of the envelopes because by the end of the night, I changed my mind. Some vendors ended up with higher tips, some with lower, and some with none at all...

honestly, one can always do it after the fact. nowhere is it stated that one HAS to give a tip right then and there. people may 'expect' it, but maybe you can just send something in the mail?

i dunno, just throwing out some suggestions. i am having the same problem you are but just have a little more time to procrastinate
