ok trying again blocking hotel rooms?

I try posting this, but it got locked.

DH and I got invited to a wedding in the caribbean and the bride to be did NOT block any rooms.

She said that she did not have the money and she did not want to take the chance of people not showing up.

Can you tell me what the procedure is for blocking rooms- do you put down a substantial amount that is not refunded?

I didn't think the couple had to put $$ down but I could be wrong. Maybe it's different with destination weddings.

I just did it. You do NOT have to give ANY money. No Credit cards... NOTHING. They only ask for your name and address so they can send you a copy of how much the rooms are as well cards to enclose in your invites.

We did not have to pay to block rooms and we were not held responsible if they weren't booked. It may be different for hotels in the Caribbean or hotels in any other countries.

I varies by hotel - we blocked a bunch of rooms for our wedding in Westhampton - some required $ for the deposit, some required we sign a contract, some required we pay for the room up and they would reimburse our credit card once (and if) the rooms was booked.

I know the East Wind makes you pay 50 % of the rooms costs and then it is refunded to the card once they are booked.
