Ok, yes, me again........

Ok, yes, me again........

So, I am having a rough time with my weight loss these days and I have been going nuts trying to decide what the best plan is for me. Plenty of things have worked, but not well enough since I have put weight back on after I've lost it. So I have sat down and really thought lately about what my real problem with food is, and I have realized that I eat throughout the day when I'm bored, sad, etc.. so my goal is to try to cut out all the extra food that I really don't NEED. I am doing WW, but I am going to do it low carbs for a week to boost my weight loss and get my spirits back up. Thanks for letting me share. I can't talk to JT about my weight because he just doesn't understand how it's a problem and I can't talk to my family about it because they all have their own issues with food and are too wrapped up with their own distorted self images to really listen. So thank you again. I'm sure this is not the last you will hear from me!

I have the same problem - and I'm sure we're not alone in that. I lose weight during the week and then the weekends come and I'm a huge pig and I eat everything in sight. Then the week starts again and I feel terrible about myself and eat more sensibly and lose the weigt....then another weekend! i thikn i need ot get to the point where i can either be good on the weekends - or i can work out some sort of excersize plan so that i can continue weight loss during the weekend.
good luck to you! i can feel your pain!

Me too, my scenario exactly. I am trying to do low carbs, but something always gets in the way. yesterday was my cousin's baby's first birthday (lots of italian catering) and tonight I ordered a chicken dish in a wine sauce and it ended up being a brown, starchy sherry sauce- I just can't seem to win

i try to be so good and then someone has to make chocolate cream pie for dessert - my weakness! how can i say no to that?
Chocolate is evil.

Palebride - I hear you. Chocolate IS evil. But sooooo good.....

Prncssrachel - you have to remember that if you're eating just because you're bored, sad, etc., that this is a mental thing that CAN be overcome. It's not easy either. Sometimes when you want to eat something, you feel like you won't be satisfied until you eat it. The temptation is too much. But this is where you need to be mentally strong. You have to think to yourself, 'ok, do I REALLY need to eat that? How will it make me feel if I do? I'll feel like crap most likely. I'll be disappointed in myself and I don't like feeling that way'.

It's not worth it to put yourself through that just for 5 minutes of gratification. Eating something only tastes good for about that long, right? And then afterwards you feel like a failure for hours.

So, put the fork down and back away!!!!
Think about something else - get the thought of food off your brain. Read a fitness magazine, brush your teeth, envision a tiny little outfit you'd like to wear someday....

Brushing your teeth works when you have a craving! Or if you think you might go back for seconds on soemthing. Brushing your teeth gets the taste out of your mouth and then when your teeth are all nice and fresh, you don't want to mess them up!
Works sometimes!

Re: Ok, yes, me again........

I do the WW at home (I dont goto meetings or anything, its great for people that are too shy to goto meetings).

In order to be sure I don't pig out on the weekends I make my 'official' weigh in day be Monday.. that way by the time i get to Friday night, I know I've been good all week, and my weigh in is so close, I dont want to ruin it!

It works for me, at least.

Is anyone else obsessed with the scale? I'm on there 3x a day. I know exactly how much I should gain after dinner, in order to have a loss for the next day.. its really quite pathetic. But I can't stop! It's like that obsessive compulsive disorder!

Re: Ok, yes, me again........

i'm thinking of switching my weigh in to sunday now. i use suffolk couty WW because i get a discount there - but i live in nassau. so monday isn't an option. but if i switch to sunday i might be less tempted to cheat on the weekends...i'm going to try that this week! great idea!

Re: Ok, yes, me again........

Well, thank you so much ladies, I've been doing really well since Sunday and haven't even had the urge to cheat. So I will try to stay strong. It's when other things are bothering me in my life that I say to hell with it and just stuff my face. So, now that I am going through a rough time, it's nice that I am able to control the urges. I'm feeling better about myself already!

Re: Ok, yes, me again........

I do exactly the same thing...was actually just talking to someone about this 15 minutes ago. BUT, I eat when I'm happy, sad, lonely, depressed, elated, etc, etc. Do you see where this can become a problem???
I HAVE To get myself psyched again

Re: Ok, yes, me again........

After watching many a Dr. Phil show...I have learned thta when you want to change a behavior - you simply replace it with something else. So if you normally eat when you're happy, sad, tired, lonely, etc., try something else - like reading or walking or drawing or brushing your hair.....
Sounds easy enough - but can anyone REALLY pull it off?
