Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
jenn this is crazy. and my e-mail is only at work so i can imagine how annoying this is! I often think that if I didnt' own the company with my FI that erroneous e-mails could be really detrimental. (SP?) - I have a girlfriend whose e-mails are checked daily at a very corporate workplace...Hey vendors - get jennbaby off your list! The girl is way ahead with her planning and doesn't need your services!
Hope that helps chickadee.....

That really stinks and I don't think that these companies realize the bad publicity that they are getting by doing this. They should really re-think the whole email thing.A bad word spreads fast.

Jenn - the part of the M&V email that I really like is the phrase 'exotic showcase.' LMAO!!!Since when did cars become exotic? I swear, I really wish that companies would hire a proofreader for their marketing materials!

Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
On M&V's behalf, cars can be exotic. I think what they're trying to say is that they have more than just the typical Lincoln stretch.

I have never gotten one e-mail. Not sure why but I am glad. I booked M&V and cars can be considered 'exotic'. They have a 1920's Madam X replica car that is beautiful. It just means non-typical.

Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
Jenny5150 - no offense meant, but I am just poking some fun at their choice of words. I don't think that cars (or a showcase of cars for that matter) are 'exotic' - but, that's my opinion.I wouldn't have used the word in that context.
I guess that makes me a VOCABULARY snob!

No offense taken. You're entitled to your opinion.

Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
Ladies - just so you don't think I am knocking one of your vendors, I want to clarify my laughing at 'exotic.' The word does not mean non-typical.Ex*ot'ic\, n. Anything of foreign origin; something not of native growth, as a plant, a word, a custom.
This is the definition I think of when I see the word exotic...well, that and 'exotic dancer' but that's a whole different story!
All I meant was that ANY vendor should choose the words used for marketing materials more carefully. I don't care if it is M&V Limos or Joe's Body Shop. Please don't get so defensive! I am not commenting on M&V's service - I have never used their services, so I have no opinion of them either way.

Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
I must say that coming from someone who proofreads BORING marketing materials for our events and edits most of it, using exotic in our brochures is not an appropriate word to discuss a session. Given the clientele, the service and situation the word may serve its purpose. However in my position I have seen ridiculous words used constantly and I am talking receiving the copy from VP's here who try to sound all cool. It just isn't appropriate. Although I don't like the choice of word for the limo co., cars are meant to be cool, fun, exciting, unique... so in this sense exotic may fit. If exotic describes their vehicles, then maybe they have something different to show possible clients. I just hope they are not describing exotic as being the stretch white limo! They also have to see it as how a reader will view there sales pitch. And unfortunately, everyone has their own opinion on everything including myself. I am not an expert over here, in fact I HATE my job and the numb nuts I work with but it gives me a pay check. So I can understand sales materials and their verbage but may not agree.I just hope these vendors stop e-mailing people!!! It does get annoying.

Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
although it may sound strange, the word exotic is always used to describe cars that are out of the ordinary...if you did a search on the internet on 'exotic cars' you would find that the phrase is well-known and often used...claud2001, i see where youre coming from but if you actually look at the definition you provided, a mercedes, bmw, rolls, madam x would all be considered and accurately described as 'exotic cars' since they are 'anything of foreign origin'...

Re: OK you girls are not going to believe me but...
dkga1026 - ya know, I guess I never thought of it that way (re: the foreign cars). I guess it could apply. I had tunnel vision thinking of 'exotic' in terms of plants, etc. Point well-taken! Ya learn something new everyday
