Okay, here is a selfish, greedy vent!

I just received a gift in the mail:

My grandma openned it up for me. It's a 6 inch waterford 'vase'. My grandma says it looks more like a small glass.

It's a wedding gift from: My stepmother's brother, his wife, and their 2 daughters (who are adult women)

Here's my greedy vent:

One of the daughters got married in Sept 01. I gave her a crisp $100 bill for her shower. My stepmother gave her $500 for her shower and my father gave her $1,000 for her wedding gift on behalf of all 4 of us.

So, my dad isn't coming to my wedding because we're not speaking, so neither are the rest of them. But, what a CHEAP gift! These people have money and I can't believe that they did this. They didn't even put the daughter's husband's name on the gift!

They sent me NOTHING for my shower and this was my wedding gift from them.

Why not just send a card with a $5 bill?

I got as an engagement gift from a very rich aunt and uncle $25. I thought it was such a slap in the face. But it is so hard to tell people this cause they don't get that it is not about the money bu tthe principle. If I were rich I would give people great gifts!! I understand your being annoyed.

awwww i don't mean laugh but i am sure all of us have experienced something like this happen.. i know i have at one time or another
you are not selfish nor greedy just a normal human being

it is just funny how cheap people are or inconsiderate (especially when you mention about your cousin)

We all say how we don't expect things from people.... well truth is everyone has expectations and when something like this happens we find them out

it is normal we are not being tacky, selfish greedy or any of the above... we just think what we would give and how we think

I don't mean to chuckle but it's true - we've all been there. My MOH spent $150 on our e-party gift alone & my VERY rich aunt gave us one Med. size IMMITATION 'corningware' style dish. So far I've only seen the brand at CVS

Look at it this way - it makes the gifts from other people that much more special!

Don't ya know, rich people stay rich cause they don't give it away..lol

But on a serious note.. you vent is well deserved.. we do all have expectations built on what we would do or how generous we would be.. but some people just have no clue at all...

- you;d be surpsied what people do and give.....wait until you see some other presents!! you just have to start laughing it off and keep a sense of humor - we do that everytime we pass a friend's garden troll she receieved 2 seperate gifts of (she beat us!)!!

sounds like a re-gift, to boot!

It is funny, at our wedding the most generous gifts came from the people that really couldn't afford it and the people who had money gave the least. They never heard of sharing the wealth!!!!
