okay I thought I was over it but

alright I thought I had totally come to terms with not expecting anything from wedding gifts but this one irked me. . this is just a vent. . I know I should not care but i figure I'll complain and be over it

had a friend who recently started seeing someone and has asked if he could bring a guest I said we really couldnt afford it but then changed my mind and told him to bring her b/c I wanted him to be happy at the wedding and that was more important than the money . . .

so as a couple present they gave me a rolling pin . . . a $20 rolling pin. . . and we have been CLOSE friends for YEARS!!! oh well i guess if I said it wasnt about the money. . it can't be!! STILL

oh that's possible but not likely. . who knows. . .Ithinking about it thought I think it's actually less about the gift than kind of what it symbolizes in the ups and downs of our friendship. .

and with that I think i will let it go and go back to concentrating on the postivie b/c IM GETTING MARRIED THIS WKND who cares about a rolling pin!

Perfect to smack her over the head with if she bugs you in the future...

J/K -- I'm not endorsing violence!!!!!!!!

I don't know why you wouldn't just not give a gift rather than give something like that... maybe it was just a token thank you for letting her bring her date, and they're going to give a gift at the wedding?

So strange... I don't always understand people.

Enjoy your last week planning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're getting married this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhh let it go, you're getting married!

My FMIL told me to invite who we wanted to invite and expect that our friends will probably give us like $50 because they don't know any better but that's not the point.

oh I don't expect anyone to give enough to come CLOSE to covering the plates. . most couples are doing less than the cost of one plate and that's TOTALLY fine. . with tax/service we are about 180 pp. . so would NEVER expect folks to give 400 as most of my friends are struggling now and i don't want gifts to be a burden. . like they shouldnt have to cut back on anything to give you know. .

But your wedding hasn't happened yet... for all you know, the rolling pin was a way of saying 'thanks for letting me bring a date' and you are still going to receive a card and check at the wedding. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions until AFTER the wedding.

AUGHHHHH!!! I am so in the same situation as you - except it involves 3 married couples in my bridal party ( both husband and wife are actually groomsmen and bridesmaids). I took the high road and shrugged it off too but it still bothers me- you're not alone on this one.

But YOU are GETTING MARRIED THIS WEEK - YAY!!!
NOTHING IS TO BRING YOU DOWN!!
CONGRATS AND HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING!!

I think you should move on.....you will be surprised at who does and doesnt even give you a gift at your wedding. I had people come and not give a gift and all and you know what I never said a thing and will send a thank you card and move on.

you have to decide if the bad feeling towards this person is worth it when you are so close to your wedding and HM....

Your wedding didnt even happen yet! She might give you a good gift at the wedding. What was the rolling pin given to you for?
