Okay ladies..I need some suggestions

Okay ladies..I need some suggestions

I need your help. Hubby is on vacation the first week of February and he wants to go away somewhere for at 4-5 days. Since we were just at Disney that's not a viable option. I'm sick of the cold so anything wintery is out and since neither of us are really beach people that doesn't work either. I was checking around on Travelocity and found some cheap, cheap, cheap packages (hotel and airfare for 2 under $1000) for both Las Vegas and San Diego. We have never been to either of them though and I have no idea what the weather is like this time of year, and/or what there is to do (besides casinos in Las Vegas).

Any and all suggestions and or info would be appreciated. Thanks

You can also got to Freemont one night in Vegas, the Grand Canyon, there is also the Mars Gourmet Chocolate Factory-- DELICIOUS!

There is tons to do in Vegas. Don't forget all the shows too.

Re: Okay ladies..I need some suggestions

Vegas has its fun parts to it but I wasn't crazy about it. The reason why I didn't think it was that great was mainly the fact that the newer, grander hotels are all built upon the idea of duplication. The fake Eiffel Tower, the fake canals of Venice, the fake Egyptian Pyramids. It's all fake, and most of it's gaudy. I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to Europe several times but even DH, who has never been there, found himself thinking that the real stuff had to be a lot cooler and standing in front this amalgam of replicas felt sort of... silly.

I know nothing about San Diego so I can't help you there but if you do go to Vegas there are countless opportunities for side trips. Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, Death Valley-the scenery is breathtaking. DH and I joke that our favorite part of Vegas was leaving it for the day. We'd eventually like to go back to the area and rent a car to explore the parks in more depth.

You'll have fun whatever you do and most importantly, you'll be warm.

Re: Okay ladies..I need some suggestions

well last week San Diego took a bit of a dip...into the 60s ;) and today it was gorgeous in the 70s!! :) but it does get cold at night...but remember Vegas is in the desert and frigid at night too...

but both places will have nice outdoor weather for the daytime...

I could give you a gazillion ideas for San Diego...and even give you a personal tour - if you want...
here's a link to Jennbaby's thread about SD
San Diego

let me know if you have other questions about SD

just another suggestion...this is a resort in the town MIL lives...and if you are a golfer at all they have a great golfcourse...lots of par 5s
Los Cabelleros
even if you don't like golf...it has dude ranch activities...

FYI: be careful with travelocity...I bought tickets and got the confirmation email for the price that I paid...and then they charged my credit card $200+ more...saying that I didn't click in time for the deal...

Both are alot of fun! I was in SD for Thanksgiving weekend, weather was perfect, we went to sea world and gas lamp district. I visited with my grandfather too.

As for Vegas, I haven't been in 3 yrs but I love it!
