Ok...need opinions on a situation that came up during house hunting today

I looked at a house that was really nice...well kept, open floor plan, had both a formal living room with fireplace AND a suite downstairs that had it's own bathroom, bedroom, kitchenette...etc. Nice piece of land, cul de sac...big kitchen, deck...fenced yard

The problem: The next door neighbor has a 'pen' or 'kennel' for the cats.....very noticeable chainlink fence that makes up an outdoor area for the cats....there were AT LEAST 5 that we saw. We have a dog. Not sure if they live out there all the time or if they go in and out....the agent said she would ask the selling agent about it.

Do I rule it out totally??

Ohh...I would be worried about the smell and if they make alot of noise...They are real loud when they are in heat. Be careful they don't get out because they will piss all over your property! I would keep looking.

They have a law here that you can only have a limited amount of pets so my neighbor gets away with having more because they are outdoor cats for us it isn't too much of problem since there are snakes here and the cats chase the snakes away. But it is a huge PITA because they like to hang out on top of our privacy fence and harass our beagle also we constantly find paw prints on the hood of our cars if we leave them in the driveway.

So IMO if she has them penned I wouldn't really care. Our neighbor doesn't and it isn't a major problem for the house they we got plus our neighbors are awesome, the wife just has a sweet spot of abandoned kitties and dogs but luckily she spays or neuters them so we don't have to worry about them multiplying.

I would keep looking--if there is a huge issue between the cats and your dog when you put it outside that could be a problem...
