So a couple we have known forever got engaged a month after us. They are both in our bridal party, and live in CA
So I found out that they are getting married March 2010 and there is a part of me that wants to get married first!!!
It's not fair!!!

lol ya one of my BMs got engaged in february, and they want to get married sat nite in APRIL like end april, a month before me!
but i told her, 'good luck finding a hall that u want end april now!' cuz i know the watermill booked up so fast i had to pick my 3rd choice date and that was in december 08 for may 10!!
so she said they may have to wait til summer or september....which i hope is the case!!
so i understand!

I think when you have an engagement that is longer than a year, you have to expext people will get engaged and married first. I'd personally rather people get married first so I can get ideas on what and what not to do.

i know how you feel....i have some friends that have gotten engaged after us and are getting married before us...
i am very happy for them...but it makes me jealous bc i wanna get married first....but then i always have to tell myself that we chose to have a longer engagement..
don't worry though...your wedding will be great whether its before or after theirs!

reading these posts make me feel so bad....
one of my BMs got engaged a few months before us, and now we are getting married a month before them. i didnt really plan it that way though. They are getting married in May. FH and I dont want a summer wedding (heat and bugs, YUCK!!) and we didnt want to prolong the engagement by waiting till fall 2010. so it was march or april. march is during lent, and ive heard conflicting thoughts from the church about weddings during lent and certain restrictions, so we picked after easter. it is actually my grandparents anniversary, so its special to my family too.
...but even though she hasnt said anythign to me, i kinda feel like a bad friend
am i bad? should i explain it to her, or just let it go

its not just you... my moms best friend's daughter got engaged last month and they are getting married 9/2009 and that makes me mad!! My wedding was supposed to be first...i got engaged over a year ago for g-dsake

I dont think you have any explaining to do. I really dont understand why people care so much. Clearly you cant be the only wedding that takes place in one year! And why should you have to hold off on your wedding b/c someone else is getting married? As long as it's not the week before or after...you are fine

i dont think you are bad...i would just let it go...
i know i said i was kinda jealous of friends who got engaged after but are getting married before but i was def not mad and they chose that date so they can't be mad that people want to have a shorter engagement..dont feel bad!

OMG you def don't have to explain!! I was having a momentary bridezilla moment and am soooo excited for them to get married!! If my friend ever said anything to me about it I would feel so bad....there is more than enough room for multiple weddings in one year!!
