I posted about this earlier but I just found out that my room rate for my hotel is more expensive than just going online and randomly booking a room that night.
We are having an afterparty and a day after brunch at the hotel which A LOT of guests will be attending. Prob 50-60
My invites are sealed and ready to go with the room price AND the statement that shuttles will take guests to RH before wedding and back to hotel after wedding.
My dilemma....do I tell my guests they can book the rooms for $50 cheaper online and not use my block? The problem is that the hotel will not provide the shuttles if I don't use my block so we will have to pay a few thousand $ for a bus to bring guests to and from wedding.
I don't know what to do! I feel bad asking my guests to spend an extra $50 when I know it could be cheaper!

Is it possible that the blocked room rates are higher because they include part of the cost of the shuttle?

I wouldnt tell them. For that many people i would just leave the block as is.

Just let it go....I doubt people will question it.

Leave it go. If anyone questions the rate (which I doubt) you can always say it was higher because of the shuttle service.

That rate is guaranteed up to 30 days before? The rate you see today can rise as you go closer. They can check for discounted rooms as well. Did you get 10 rooms? We had 8 used but others went outside the block for a lower rate.
Can't the hotel bring down the price a little more for you?

I would leave it as is and here are few reasons why:
1. there is no guarantee the rate will stay like that online -- it could go up A LOT 2. Without a block there is no way of guaranteeing your guests will have rooms 3. without a block there is no way to track what guests are booked for you. The hotel cannot release an entire rooming list to you and I am sure they are not going to sit with you and go name for name to see who booked.

That's what I think they're going to say...BUT they said the shuttles are complimentary with the room block
