OLD FIELD CLUB

Has anyone ever been to a wedding at the Old Field Club in East Setauket? Has anyone looked at or considered OFC for their wedding reception?

Thanks in advance!

OLD FIELD CLUB

My cousin got married there in '95, and we booked it for our wedding this October.
We went to their bridal show a few weeks ago and everything was amazing....

Have you met with the manager there?
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Teri!

I heard about OFC from a friend, and I totally trust her taste. I went on to their website and it looked pretty but I have a few concerns.

I spoke to Marvin (I`m not sure if he is the Manager) and he was really nice. According to him, the prices are...Friday $90pp, Saturday $115pp, Sunday $100pp. Is that what you were quoted? It says $125pp on the website so I was confused. I love the fact that I would be the only wedding that day, and that they do not charge a service fee (gratuity.

I have some questions for you if you do not mind...
Is the dance floor of adequate size? On the website, it looks a little small and it is important to me to have a good sized dance floor.

How many people are you having? How many do you think can fit comfortably?

Do you feel that there is enough food? I saw on the website that all the tables and stations at the cocktail hour are additional. Did you add-on any of these? We were thinking of the Lobster and Shrimp table if we booked them. How was the food at the show? I heard the chef there is great.

Thanks...I hope I didn`t overwhelm you with all of my questions! :)

I booked with Tim`s nephew Mike (or vise versa!), but I think Marvin is new - he`s an asst mgr. When I booked in March of 01, they said their website prices are incorrect (not sure why they haven`t changed it, maybe to cover their butts!) I`m paying a little less than what you were quoted for a Sat night, but again, I booked over a year ago. The fact that they don`t tack on another 18-20% gratuity was really great, especially since you`re in control of the tipping at the end of the night.

The dance floor is decent, but not ridiculously huge - it`s a nice set up though - the reception room is large, with huge floor to ceiling windows overlooking the inlet, then the bar/dance floor is at the end - technically another room, but it`s not separated by doors or anything.
The one potential complaint is that the place doesn`t hold more than 150 or so comfortably - we`re expecting about 130 so it should be perfect. My cousin`s wedding had about 175, and I remember it was a tight squeeze! If it`s a nice day, you can hang out on the deck, but you wouldn`t want to rely on that in case of bad weather.

The food was a concern for us at first - mainly because the normal LI wedding has a tremendous feast for the cocktail hr. The mgrs at OFC insist they keep refilling trays for this, and since we saw how much they brought out for the bridalshow, we were happier. We`ll probably end up adding a pasta station as well, just to be safe.
The food at the showcase was really great - my FH didn`t care for 1 type of shrimp they served, but I didn`t taste it so who knows! Everything else was great - wait staff was attentive, pleasant and friendly.
The best thing to do is make an appt to meet with them and they can show you around - they`ve all be really helpful and friendly.

I'm getting married there in august. I'm paying $110. for a saturday,(we booked it last summer.) They told us upfront that the website prices were wrong. (I guess they haven't changed it).
The reception room itself is pretty big.(It reminds me of a church with it's cathedral ceilings). Like Teri said, the dance floor is at the end, but there is plenty of room. I've seen the place set up for 140, and it seemed spacious to me. (we are having 130)
We liked the fact that you can get married by the water on the deck in the back. I was concerned that their would be enough food at the cocktail hour, so we are getting a pasta & carving station as well. let me know i you have any questions! Good Luck
