Old Field Club Girls!!!!!!

OMG, I can't believe I took this long to write this!!! We went for our tasting on May 7th...it was A-MAZE-ING!!!!!!!!!! Seriously it was some of the best food I have EVER put in my mouth!!! Mike (The new MD) was SO nice, I like him even better than Tom...he has a great sense of humor and is really willing to accommodate any and all requests. We asked if for the appetizer we could have gazpacho and he said it was no problem! We also wanted to switch out the Coors Light on tap for Blue Moon and its absolutely not an issue! He really will do anything to make your big day a success!!

As for the food...omg wow. For dinner we went with the Fliet, the duck and the chilean sea bass...do NOT be afraid to stray from the Salmon, coz the sea bass was out of this WORLD!!!

I have no doubt that we will have some of the most delicious food ever at our wedding!!! I asked a million questions so if you have any feel free to ask me here and I will answer whatever I can!

id opt for anything other than salmon and chilean sea bass is one of my favs.

people like something different so i think that would be a huge hit :)

Thanks so much for posting this Ilana!! I was just thinking about you recently and wondering how your tasting went. I'm SOOO happy to hear that everything was amazing!!

2 questions I have for OFC, maybe you have some answers :

Did Mike mention anything about renovating the bathrooms? They seem a little outdated and I would love to hear that they will be renovating them..lol

Also, do you know how many guests you need to have in order to have a 4-tier wedding cake included. I have the 3-tier included on my contract, but ideally would like a 4-tier cake.

We have 130-140 and we got a 4 tier cake!
It seems like that bakery knows what they're doing!!

I'm SO glad your tasting went well! We did our tasting before we booked there, just to make sure the food was delicious & it absolutely is. This is coming from a food snob too :) We happened to go on a night the members were having a huge event so every passed app that came out they brought to us, they were all out of this world! YUM!

We are going out there on Sat. to do a run thru with the room before I meet with the florist on Sunday. I'm wondering now if I'm doing this stuff backwards! lol.

What is everyone doing for the cocktail hour centerpieces?
Does anyone know if they set up a bar outside for the cocktail hour or is it just the bar inside? I'm expecting about 150 so that's a bit of a concern.

We're going to have small bubble vases with floating rose heads for the cocktail hour centerpieces.

I'm not sure if they set up a bar outside. I was under the impression that they would only have the bar inside, but it would be great if they also set up a small bar outside also.

I am having tall cylinder vases with submerged flowers in them for cocktail hour.
I was concerned about the 1 bar for cocktail hour as well. They will be setting up a table with beer and wine only.
They are not goingt o like me as it gets closer b/c I talked to Tom about a lot of smaller details that he did not have issues with...I hope it stays this way.

I was out there on Sat. and met with Mike for the first time, he seems great! That place is just so beautiful! I can't wait for our big day :)

Oh & as far as the boathrooms go, they really aren't that bad. They are newly tiled and the sinks are all new. The 'design' on the wall is a bit strange at first and the stalls remind my of grade school but all in all they really aren't so bad.

Wow I didn't even look back to this thread, my bad!!

I want to do silver mint julep cups with wildflowers...goes with our vintage/naturalish theme.

As far as the bathrooms, they will not be renovating...but I love them, I think they have a lot of charm.

ETA: He didn't mention anything about an extra bar outside. I did ask him about having a tent rain or shine, and he said its absolutely not an issue, but that if its sunny all weekend I'd have to pay for it...if its raining they put it up automatically at no charge. If its raining the day before my wedding and not the day of, he won't charge me for the tent because I would have had it either way.

I am very worried about the traffic situation on the Friday that I get married.
I put 5:45 as the time the reception will start but I don't think we will actually begin to 6:15.

Everything was great when we went too! We just picked our final menu on Saturday and we can't wait. Mike was create with accomodating anything we wanted....26 days and counting

Also - with timing. Our invitations say 6, but we won't start until 630. I wouldn't worry too much about the traffic though - some things you just can't control!

We are getting married on Saturday but its the Jewish holiday weekend. I feel bad for anyone trying to get out there on that Friday though, near impossible! We are all going out really early Friday morning and staying at the hotel until Sunday.
