Old Field Club or Snapper Inn???

Old Field Club or Snapper Inn???

If anyone has seen both how would you compare the two?

I want more of a hang out type of wedding without a lot of the structure, not exactly casual... but I don't want a reception hall. I am very turned off by any place that resembles RH. So these two places stood out to me. Would you describe Snapper Inn as elegant or very casual?

I know I prefer OFC, but it is just so expensive and would mean cutting back on a lot of other things I would like to have. Snapper Inn is very affordable.

I am unable to check out the places in person because I live overseas. And to be honest, I rather make the decision via distance. So any info you give will be extremely helpful!

I don't know anything about OFC but I can tell you that I love the food at Snapper Inn. It's FH's favorite, on the water...and it's very nice!

FH and I chose the Snapper Inn over the conventional RH b/c it had more of a laid back vibe while still maintaining the wedding atmosphere. We also like working with the BM Lori. We chose the wedding menu which includes the cake and flowers so it turned out to be a pretty good deal. FM me if you have any questions!! HTH

Snapper in was my first choice! We didn't end up going with it because we were worried about the weather in May but if that wasn't the case I would have loved our wedding to be held there. I like you didnt want a typical RH place. But ended up going with a very typical type RH. LOL

Did you ever see a wedding going on at the Snapper? I did and it looked awesome. I loved the vibe! Outdoors on the water- some people hang out by the water and have a drink while others dance on the dance floor. Love it! its all lit up with white lights that hang on the trees. Ask Laurie (i think that was her name) what night a wedding is going on and then go with yor FH and check it out. :) HTH

I also wanted to say that I did love the OFC as well when I checked it out. I think that you would be happy with both venues- they are both beautiful. I think the big difference between the two is that the snapper is truly all outdoors with a covered roof and a more relaxed feel (no AC). The snapper is also a resturant so there will be other action going on besides your wedding ecspecially in the summer when they have an outside band which will not stop due to your wedding.

The OFC is inside/airconditioned (which may be to your benefit depending on what month you pick) and very elegant and classy. It will be the only event happening at the venue on your big night.

That was my view on both and you truly cant go wrong with either. You just need to decide on the vibe you want and once you do that your decision will be easy. ( i think)

Thanks everyone for replying!

Would you say Snapper Inn is 'elegant' or is it very casual? I really don't like the idea of a band playing outside during our wedding. That is a major turn off!

I might just have to splurge on OFC... if only I can get them down on their 100 guest minimum.. sigh...

Re: Old Field Club or Snapper Inn???

We chose the Snapper Inn =) And I chose it because I was looking for something NOT like the 'typical Long Island Catering Hall'.... The Snapper Inn is very elegant and casual. It's your day and how YOU make it. If you want it elegant, then you have the ability to make that room VERY elegant, and if you want it casual it will be just that as well... It all depends on you and your FH and your creativity.

I have NO complaints about Snapper Inn so far, Lori is SO HELPFUL!

I saw that you posted something about a live band at the wedding? What did you mean by that though?

Re: Old Field Club or Snapper Inn???

Someone earlier had said that because the venue is a restaurant--that sometimes they have live bands playing at the restaurant during your wedding. Did you ask about this when you booked???

If Snapper Inn is mostly outdoors--what do you do in the case of rain?

THe pavillion actually has sides that go down in case of rain. Kind of like a very upscale tent if that makes sense. They would do cocktail hour in the same room as the dinner if it does rain.

I don't think that the band (I believe it's usually one guy on a guitar but I could be wrong) would bother the wedding b/c it's on the other side, not that close to the pavillion.

If you're not going to be too much under the min you should talk to OFC about lowering it. They do charge a lot to start with but they will negotiate and add things on for free because of that. THey did an amazing job for us and we didn't pay for anything extra (even though we did have some add ons)

Where would the guy playing the guitar be? We are using the other area for our CH too, no tht elawn, the outisde bar. I did NOT know about this, so, no I didn't ask. But I dont mind emailing Lori and asking her, if you'd like it confirmed?

They do have curtains that come down in case of rain, I will FM anyone who wants to see pictures I came across on google images from a wedding there, it took my breath away. Just FM me =)

I thought that he was on the other side of the lawn from the pavillion. You are using the outside bar too? Nice! Could you let me know what you find out when you confirm that with Lori?
THANKS!!

Re: Old Field Club or Snapper Inn???

Well, you have to pay a little extra to use it, so what I'm thinking is, if you don't pay he's there, if you do pay, then he's not. I've NEVER seen any pictures with him in them? And I dont think it's open to the public?

I will email Lori and let you know.

Thanks, Rebekah. I will ask them. But they didn't seem too open to it when I emailed them.

I was able to get OFC to agree to a 60 person minimum - it was a Sunday in July so I think you can likely talk them down on their minimum. I found them to be pretty flexible with us actually. And I have to say I LOVED every bit of our wedding there. There isn't a single thing I'd change about the way the OFC did our wedding! If you have any questions, feel free to FM!
