Old Field Vineyard vs. Martha Clara vs. Pavillion at sunken Meadow

Hey Everyone

I am new to these message boards so I was hoping to get some opinions from all of the experienced brides.

I have always dreamed of a beach wedding and I have looked into several places but either it is way overpriced, places close at sunset, you need permits, issues of noise, etc...

I then thought that maybe I can do a vineyard since it is outdoors and I don't want a tradional and typical wedding hall, no offense to anyone.

I love Old Field but it seems really expensive, I think their website said a site fee of $10,000. That is way more than I had planned to spend.

I also looked into Martha Clara which I think can also be pretty nice but don't really know much about it.

The last option ws the Pavillion at Sunken Meadow.

I am torn between these three in terms of beachy/outdoors.

On top of that, (I also posted in another section) I was born and raised in Manhattan and would love to have a NYC wedding as well. My choices are between The Weather Room, Stage 6 and The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers.

Any info on prices, site fees, food, etc....

I looked at the Old Field Club, but was ultimately too small for us - but they never mentioned a site fee!

I don't think that 10,000 number is correct!

How many people were you planning on having for your wedding?

We are looking at 100-125

Here is the link for Old Field which quotes the site fee

It is perfect for me but that price is too high

Ah I didn't read your post fully - I was thinking of the Old Field Club, not Old Field Vineyard.

Old Field Club would be a gorgeous venue for your amount of guests - we are looking at closer to 180.

Martha Clara has a site fee of $1k. You have to bring in your own caterer, they recommend a few.

I had my engagement party there and honestly I would not recommend them. The location and facilities are beautiful, but the staff is rude and disorganzied. I literally had guests coming up to me at the party saying how rude the bartenders are. There was also a lot of miscommunication. I think this is because they had a new manager and he wasn't getting along with the event planner. I always got two completely different answers. This was just my experience with them, I'm sure plenty of girls had better ones.

Some beach/water ideas:

Crescent Beach Club in Bayville
Riviera in Massapequa (on the water, not on the beach)
West Sayville Country Club (again on water, not on beach)
There are also private yacht clubs that I was looking at before we booked (we booked the Riviera).

Old Field Club is absolutely gorgeous. It is $110pp on a Friday or Sunday and $130pp for a Saturday wedding....no site fee. It holds a maximum of about 160 people although it would probably be a little tight with that many. It's right on the water and very elegant!
