Older Men that you love (famous ones)

I hope that somehow you'll all see this on Monday.

Tell me about your famous old man crushes (at least 15-20 years older than you) - when it first developed, how deep in lust you are, how your husbands react to these crushes.

I'm curious in part because I'm writing something and it would be fun to include some other examples.

Oh and so M-lo pays attention: balls.

Although George Clooney is a strong object of lust for me... he is only like 8-9 years older than me.. so he doesn't qualify.

I also loved Elvis post mortem.. but that's a little gross.

Sean Connery, Paul Newman and Ford Harrison are all big loves of mine.

But the big one? The one that makes my husband just the smallest bit insecure?

Robert Redford.

I loved him since someone made me watch the Great Gatsby. I loved the way he waved.. the way he didn't look back while walking forward and threw his hand over his head in a weird combination of sexy, dismissive and affectionate.

I remember wanting to be Daisy Buchanan and then realizing that I didn't want to kiss Jay Gatsby.. i wanted to be Mia Farrow so I could kiss Robert Redford. I was REALLY young. He was my first real crush on a movie star. He was never in Tiger Beat or Teen Crush magazine though.

When I was in high school I watched Out of Africa. When he washed Meryl Streep's hair, I suddenly realized that no real boyfriend was ever going to measure up to RR.

It was around that time I decided to become a nun.

When A River Runs Through It came out I was too busy focusing on RR's voice to pay attention to Brad Pitt's abs.

My Rob comes home and sees me dreamily curled up watching Indecent Proposal or greedily gobbling up The Horse Whisperer and he will inevitably snort and make a comment about how deep the creases are in RR's face or how his flagpole must be less than stiff. It is with just a little bit of defensiveness... a little bit of uncertainty because he and RR are so different. It's almost as if he wouldn't mind if I had chosen someone who was more like he is.

I met my husband and almost dismissed him outright. He was no Robert Redford. He was dark and wild where RR was calm and fair. He was a snowboarder who attacked the mountain with a vengeance... I imagined swooshing downhill on perfect powder at a pace that was conducive to taking in the scenery. My Rob smells like sawdust and soap with rough work calloused hands. In my mind RR is scented like sandlewood with soft hands to match his lazy smile. My Rob wears tee shirts and jeans or just forgoes the shirt altogether. RR is a sweater guy.

But they both have blue eyes.

I love RR and the idea of what I always wanted.

But I love my crazy reality much much more...

and if my Rob ever doubts it - RR's dvd gets shut off and I do my best to prove just how much I want what I have.

Harrison Ford!!! I've had a crush on him since I was about 15 and I think it started when I saw Witness. He's not aging too gracefully, but I still think he's just so handsome.............................

Brad Pitt is 14 years older than me. That is crazy. I don't love him, though.

these men together embody the man I have always wanted.

Sean and Pierce for their roughness (every girl needs a bit of misogyny in her life ) but also for their protection...your heart my not be safe, but you life certainly is. The would never hurt you, nor allow your to be harmed.

Paul Newman has always seemed to be genlte in contrast (and sometimes against the characters he's played). There is something behind his eyes that makes up for what Pierce and Sean lack....something that sooths your soul and lets your heart know there is no where in the world for it more safe than with his.

Bruce Lee stands for honor. loyalty. faithfulness. He was probably my first crush ever. His fists of fury also made me feel protected.

And William, for his words. I have a lot of trouble believing in things. in people. his words. he makes me believe. He is patient. He will say it until I have no other recourse but to know his words are true. He beats love into me. I need that.

as far as the bomb, I don't think he cares one way or another about my crushes. I don't think they phase him at all. Except my MB crush. I think he cultivates that one.

I also dont' think he understands the 'older man' crush. b/c at least for me, it's all about the inside. the character.

I have an old woman crush, well, sorta old.

Can you believe she's already 48?

And of course, she's hard-core!
