OMG it is 3 hrs later and they still are blasting their music. The office will not do anything because they are moving out next week! I keep screaming at the floor and throwing books on the ground to get them to shut up. Cps has been called a few times, they are 'investigating' its BS

wow .. i can not believe that even with a complaint like that CPS is still investigating.. usually i think thier investigations are a month long.. and they do a bunch of surprise visits.. within that time they usually make some kind of determination about the childs safety and what the best course of action is. they must not be taking this report seriously.. that's freaking crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet you though... if someone called to complain about someone who was a great mom/dad etc. and was totally innocent of any abuse.. they'd lock em up!! arggg.. our system s ucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh i hear you!! When I was 5 we lived in a basement apt in levittown, there was a bar in the basement but i used the shelves and stuff as my play area. There was never any alcohol in the house. I was on a bar stool one day and fell off and knocked myself out. My mom took me to the hospital cuz i had a concussion. The Docs asked me what happened and being 5 i told them' I fell off a bar stool' well they put my mom in handcuffs in 3 seconds and CPS was there and saying she had me in a bar. she had to call the neighbors and the landloard to come tell them she was telling the truth!

i def. wouldn't go down there!! You dont know how these people are gonna react if that's the way they argue.. i'd call the cops and complain about the noise if it gets worse. You don't have to tell them your name.. and if there are other people who live near by they won't have to know where the call came from (meaning ure neighbors). That's gotta be soooo frustrating!! Sorry

argg that makes me mad.. i understand that they are doing thier job ..they were trying to protect you which is the right thing to do.. but then they have someone tell them there was a toddler locked in a boiler room and they say ..ok we'll investigate...!! WHAT CRAP!

a close friend of mine is divorcing an abusive man.. and CPS dropped the investigation on him after he had a lot of stuff going on that they should have really continued to check into. They only re opened the case recently when she brought up to them that she couldn't believe how they just dropped it!! It's nuts how things work!!!

i just hope for that little baby that these people either get thier act together (which seems like it's unlikely) or someone steps up and says you can't do that to a child and saves that poor little boy. Hearing things like that makes me very scared for that poor child I'm glad they are moving and you won't have to deal with people like that anymore!

in defense of CPS....the job is a lot more difficult than you may believe. For instance how can you prove the child was in the boiler room besides someone hearing loud voices? If CPS went strictly on heresy, the mom of the poster who fell off the bar stool could have been taken to court. Alot of times it's a he said/she said situation wth little physical evidence. Trying to make determinations with that kind of information is extremely difficult. The child protective field in general is very subjective and many things need to be taken into account. I'm not defending the actions of the CPS that came into your neighbors home, rather taking a minute to let people know how difficult the job can be...and the buraucracy that is necessary to deal with can be crazy.

You should explain to CPS this is a case of neglect and that you have made several attempts to have them investigate. At this point you should also inform CPS that you have been keeping records of the times you have contacted them and that their office is now being negligent (even if you didn't its ok)
This usually gets them going a little quicker....

my fault....I assumed you were on LI. I don't know how it works out there but hopefully (or not) the same things apply. I just wanted to provide a bit of insight into how much things cant be taken on the word of others. CPS gets a bad rap particularly recently. I truly and sincerely hope your situation gets better. And I hope that child gets the help it appears that he needs

I AM GOING TO KILLLLLLL THEM! They have their music so loud that my floor is shaking! I can hear the words to their freaking music I CANT WAIT TO MOVE!! These are the same neighbors that have locked their toddler out on the porch and make him sleep in the boiler room!! UGH

I have to agree and disagree...First, it is not the investigators, but the higher ups who determine whether to come to court and file a neglect or abuse petition-which if filed, will be prosecuted by the County Attorney's Office. Unfortunately, the new admin where I am felt that CPS was too 'litigious' and stopped filing where they needed to. But, in order to sustain the petition, they have to show that sufficient facts are available to support a petition. Sometimes that is hard!

**UPDATE***

Apparently they had their music so freaking loud today was because they were moving out!!!!!!!!!! HORRAY!!! I called the cops and told them about the situation and CPS AGAIN they siad they would get the information from the apt complex on their new address and everything and would take it from there. I hope all goes well because that little boy is so cute. Keep him in ur prayers that something will work for him!!

Im just SOOO glad the music is gone!

If the cops don't show up when you call to complain just keep calling and complaining. They have to do something. And the fact that a kid is invlolved should make them get there faster.

OMG I can't believe they do that to their child I hope CPS and the cops take care of everything.

it is awful and disgusting but unfortunately, they do not quickly remove children from their homes
they first do a thorough investigation including interviewing people that know them personally and secondly, they send them for parenting classes and such unless the child is in imminent danger
