omg

we just got our W-2's. I somehow got 20 to hand out in my office even though I shouldnt be - we have office asistants to do it. So anyway I go to open mine and it is waaay to much to be mine.
I opened my bosses by mistake!!!! I love my boss I would never do this on purpose - what should I do - I reeeeally dont want to have to tell her I opened it by mistake.

I am sick about this

tell her you accidently opened it but before you actually looked at it you relized it wasn't yours, and hope she believes you!

DO NOT tell anyone at the office how much your boss made last year. That would be worse than accidently opening his/her W-2. Just be honest, say you opened it by mistake and then realized that it wasn't yours. I wouldn't mention that you noticed how much money it was for, or anything. Just that you opened by mistake and then realized it belonged to your boss. Stuff happens. I am sure it will be fine.

I would love to accidently open one of the partners W-2s. But I am the cat that curiosity is definitely going to kill someday.

oh lord no I would never tell anyone how much - I am totally loyal to my boss and we are very close, we have outside ties as well, I was annoyed that this person even asked they should know me better.

try not to worry .. everything will be fine, we're all human and mistakes happen! It seems like you and your boss have a good relationship, I'm sure she/he will not be upset at all!

I did the same thing last year with my boss.. he laughed it off completely.. he's a cool guy and knew I'd keep it confidential.

I did that once with my boss's paycheck by accident. I just went in and told him I ripped open the wrong one and sorry. That was that.

Don't worry about it. It's an honest mistake but like someone said do not tell anyone how much he/she makes. Thats a big no no.

I would also suggest not telling anyone that you even opened it by accident. Only you and your boss need to know...well and of course LIW gals...

i already just reactionary - was like oh s.... I opened the wrong envelope. Then some idiot asked me how much 4 or 5 times I finally said I dont even remember honestly i just know it wasnt mine.

if i could get a fresh envelope to put it in should i ?
