just with my reception hall and photo/video i am already up to $9,000.00. i have a $14,000 budget.
these are the things me and fh has to pay for: my dress, invitations, the church, my lingerie, veil, tiara, rings, d.j, shoes, hair/make-up,(maybe, not sure if mom is paying for hair/make-up yet) nails. plus the guest book, and placecard frames, toasting flutes!!!
do you think i can do all this with $5,000 left??????? i'm afraid i'm not going to be able to make it.

im jealous!!! I wish thats how much I was spending on my hall and photo and video
anyway i think you can do it! order your invitations from a mail order catolog.. they are the same thing and much cheaper. all that other little stuff you can get on ebay cheap! The dj - definitly go check out vinne from hogh voltage - he is VERY accomadating to smaller budgets. The only thing is I dont know about the dress. Mine was very inexpensive if you want to fm me. Try commack wedding center... they had a million dresses there and almost all the ones I looked at were well under 1,000 ** I think if you spend 2k or less on your dress, 1k on the dj ( if you dont need an mc or extras you can spend less) you have MORE then enough for all the other stuff!!! good luck!!

Re: OMG!!!
I think so. Just sit down and realistically budget each part and stick to your budget!
Good Luck, Kudos to you for sticking to a budget. Mine went out the window months ago!

Re: OMG!!!
It all depends on who you use and what brand. Dress - if you don't go crazy you can get a dress for under $1,000 Veil and Tiara - possible to be done within a few hundred depending on what you choose Invitations - again, if you don't go crazy you can do this for a few hundred dollars (depending on the size of your invite list) Church - probably around $300 Lingerie and Flutes - maybe you can ask for this as a shower gift from someone? Rings - can range from $200 - $2000 depending on how fancy you two want them to be DJ - I've heard quotes of $1000 - $1200 Hair/Mkup/Nails - gotta figure around $200 minimum for all Guest book - maybe something to skip if you run out of money Shoes - I got awesome shoes for $40 Placecard holders - again - you don't NEED them unless you want to do favors and use them for the dual purpose - but if you don't get them the hall sometimes provides the cards you can write out You may come pretty close to $5,000 so you have to be careful - don't forget there will be some unexpected costs along the way, and a lot of tipping too on the wedding day!

Re: OMG!!!
And ebay saves TONs of money! I bought my veil, tiara, shawl, jewelry, cake cutter, cake topper and toasting flutes via ebay.

Re: OMG!!!
It depends on how you go about it. I am personally making my invitations from scratch, but we aer having an afternoon more relaxed wedding. What else... we may have connections with the dj, I am being resonable about the dress price, doing my own makeup cause I honestly dont trust others and refuse to pay that type of price for it, not getting toasting flutes because it isn't like the hall won't let you use theirs (same with cake cutters). It all depends on if you spend money on things you don't need.

Re: OMG!!!
I think you need to eliminate a few things from your list: lingerie, guest book, placecard frames, toasting flutes.
These are not necessities - my BP bought me my guest book and toasting flutes, but you can just as easily go without them.
Placecard frames are nice but also, not necessary (people don't really think about placecards at all unless they're planning a wedding )
You can get a tiara on ebay for under $10. You can get veils there too, but I don't know how much they run - can't be too much.
For your dress, check out David's Bridal and also sample sales. My girlfriend got her dres for all of $200 because she bought the floor sample that was being discontinued!!!
Although it can be a pain, you can make invitations yourself (Staples sells kits that aren't very $$$$)
If you're very mindful of your budget, it can be done, but it won't be easy.

Re: OMG!!!
Totally doable.
You can check out my budget vendor page for some leads on vendors:
The other thing that I thought of, instead of using a guest book we are having people sign the inside of our photo album. I have talked to people who got married before and they don't even know where their guest book it. I think having your notes from friends and familly would be much more suited in your album. Remeber you have 'Something borrowed' and 'Something old'. My borrowed in my friends tiara, it was beautiful and what would I do with a new one after ward?

Re: OMG!!!
thank you everyone for your advice. i went over a couple things and am cutting some things.
i'm not going to do save the dates, going to get cheaper invitations, use high voltage for d.j, my church is costing me $575.00 then plus 250 for pre-cana, and look on ebay for the rest.
i can't believe i spent so much on just these two things, but the pictures and video are gorgeous and those are important to me. i'm just going to have to go cheaper on the rest.

Re: OMG!!!
You can also do little pieces of paper in a vase/bowl instead of a guest book. It might be cheaper- I don't know how much guest books run.
I freaked out at that point too. the hall is my biggest expense, followed by the photographer & band which are about tied I think. Altogether that is about 70% of my old budget. 60% of my new budget
and Saturday I talk to the florist

REALLY? I am getting married at the same church and I can say this was not what I am paying! I knew their fee went up but that cost for precana would be like 3x what we paid!!!!!

you live in west babylon? thats so cool. are you having your ceremony at olog?
i was just looking on ebay for a lot of things, and am definetly getting stuff like my veil, tiara, guest book off of there. i will save so much. it's so hard, everything is so expensive. but i def. do not want to go over my budget, so i really have to look around for better prices on everything else.
