OMG!!!

OMG!!!

Some of you may know (from other posts) that we were not going to make our minimum - so we started invited people last minute (which I felt bad about anyway) - so one guy who FH lifeguards with - FH asks him last weekend and he comes in today and tells FH that he can't come but he hands FH a card. So, in the card, he wrote the nicest note about how great I was, how he thanks FH for being there for him and being a good friend...and gives us a check for $400!!!!! I'm NOT kidding!! This guy is not wealthy and I feel so bad because he wasn't even initially invited and he's not even coming!!! I know you can't not accept someone's gift-but this really blew my mind. We are having a BBQ two nights before wedding for wedding party and now FH wants to invite him for that so he can at least partake in some of our wedding related activities. I feel so bad...

I agree - that would be a nice way to connect with him after the craziness.

It's nice to hear about people surprising others with GOOD things for once!!

I just feel really weird about accepting such a generous gift from someone we barely know!! I just spoke to one of my friends and she told me we should try and check with him somehow if that's the amount he meant, and didn't make a mistake, but I don't want to insult him - I don't know what we should do!!!

wow that was so sweet of him Michal, maybe a personal phone call just to thank him and to mention the BBQ tell him 'you shouldnt have etc' and see what he says. Im sure it wasnt a mistake to write a check for $400! By the way can i have his name and address id like to invite him to my wedding

WOW! That was very kind of him! I think you should have him come to the BBQ, I think that is a nice gesture. I wouldn't ask him if he made a mistake though. That may offend him.
