OMG FMIL LONG!!!

OMG FMIL LONG!!!

I'd just like to start out by saying that FH's mom hasn't contributed a nickel to our wedding, and also has not offered to help with anything (my parents are footing the whole thing)... that being said I just need to vent about her latest shenanigans....

I booked a block of 25 rooms at the new Courtyard Marriott in Farmingdale(beautiful, BTW). Most of the people coming from out-of-state are FH's relatives. His mom and dad divorced like 25 years ago. I told FMIL that I booked the block of rooms and her first reaction was, 'Oh a Marriott... I thought Stephen said you booked the Hilton. My brother in Florida only stays at really nice hotels.' So I tell her it's brand new and show her pictures of the inside. She then says, 'Oh, I guess it's nice, he'll probably like it.'

Okay fine. Then a few days later she asks us if FH's dad is staying at the hotel for our wedding and we tell her yes (b.c he lives out of state). So she goes, 'Oh well NOW I don't know if my family is gonna wanna stay there if HE'S staying there...'

WHAT!?!?!?! You've been divorced FOREVER!!!!!!! There is a better chance of your brothers and FFIL running into eachother at the reception than at the hotel!!!! BTW.... FMIL's brothers are in their 70's!!!!!!!!! and FFIL is in his 60's... Do you think there's gonna be a fight?!?!? Someone could break a hip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is she kidding?!?!?!

Since I took so long to tell that story, here's another slightly long one, lol...

FMIL tells me not to invite FH's cousin's kids to the wedding (I hope I didn't lose anyone with that, lol). She said it's a waste and a burden on the parents and that the parents would probably want to get out without the kids anyway.

Fine with me, it makes my life easier.

We sent out the invites on Tuesday, most people got them on Wednesday. FMIL calls me today... 'Donna wants to know if she can bring the kids.'
Me: 'I thought you said not to invite them.'
Her: 'I never said that.'
Me: 'yea you did... you told me not to inivte anyone's kids!'
Her: 'I never said that.'
(You have to imagine a really annoying 'nails on a chalkboard' kind of voice for her, lol)

So whatever she told me not to invite them and is now making me look like the bad guy... so I said fine tell Donna she can bring the kids.
Her: 'What about Jeffery and Richard's kids... what if they want to come?'
Me: 'LET THEM COME I DON'T CARE!!!'

I want to scream right now thinking about her... but my daughter is asleep....lol.

Why does she torture me?!?!?!?!

PS I told FH that if I go over the max of kids and some end up being full price cause of this, his mother is paying my dad back!

Sorry this is so long!

Re: OMG FMIL LONG!!!

Talk to FH. This is your wedding and not hers. AND she's not paying for anything. That is so rude. Not paying for something and then expects you to invite who she wants to invite..

Sit down and have a talk with FH and let him know how you feel. MAybe he can talk to his mom and explain thing to her.

Hope everything works out. Sorry about your dilemna.

I fee l your pain. As much as you want to tell her off, your only making it worse for yourself in the long run. I'm on your side, just let her have her antics--people like her are usually so insecure that no matter what you say she isn't going to see the light.

Re: OMG FMIL LONG!!!

I only read the first paragraph....i cant handle more FMIL problems.....but i reserved the courtyard marriot in ronkonkoma for my wedding and she was like WHAAAAAAAAAT??? I WILL NOT PUT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN A SH IT HOLE!!!! I was like....UMMMMMMMMMM YOU'RE NOT!!!! IT'S BRAND NEW AND BEAUTIFUL AND THE STAFF IS GREAT!!!! And p.s.: another one who hasn't lifted a finger or offered to help (well...she offered to help when we told her that she is inviting too many people....she said she would pay for anything over our limit....but the money wasn't the problem....RH only holds 240 people....so FH and I are hardly inviting any of our friends....close friends yes, work people no....)
but still...it's like...get off ur frikkin arse and help...don't just sit there and wine and cry all day.....

Note to self:
DO NOT BE LIKE THIS TO YOUR SON WHEN HE GETS MARRIED........HE WILL HATE YOU.

Ugh- she sounds really annoying!

I can deal w/ FMIL problems. Luckily I love mine, but I definitely see potential problems in the future- who the guest list really gets finalized- thats whre most problems start.

you should start recording convos so she cant say 'i didnt say that'...lol

I hope everything works out.

You wedding is so soon- i am so jealous!

ya know they always have 1001 suggestions but when it comes to contributing financially they cry like babies - people suck! i wouldn't do anything else to make her happy until she chips in something other than criticism! JMO
