OMG - I just helped this old lady who burst an artery in the middle of the street!
It was really surreal - My FI and I were walking home and we see these two men trying to get an old lady to sit on her front stairs and there's blood everywhere. One guy is trying to tie her leg while trying to convince her to sit down and the other guy who owns the deli on the corner is trying to talk to 911, who are giving him crap for some reason. So I get the old lady to sit and the neighbor comes out and gets a towel and a stool to elevate her foot and my FI takes over on the phone - we think the other guy's accent was why he was having trouble.
So this guy is using is own scarf to staunch the blood flow - which is like a pinhole in a hose that's under full pressure - SPRAYING - it got on my shoes and my jeans. That guy is like my hero. The deli guy gave her water and gave us gloves and it was a really nice show of community support - we were trying to find her son who lived across the street but he wasn't home and she couldn't remember which house he lived in.
The paramedics came pretty quickly and took her, and we just went home. So weird - there's blood all over the sidewalk.
Just had to get it out.
