Not sure what you're looking for. Do you want a religous ceremony? There is a non-denominational church in Sayville that isprobably less strict than a religious church.

Re: OMG- I need some serious help!
In a nutshell---- the church welcomed us with open arms from day one- telling us we could do what we wanted write our own vows, etc.... We started to get word about additional costs and are now being told that we must do their ceremony no exceptions. This would probably be ok- except the reverend who is a jerk- told me that i was welcome to go get married by a justice of the peace if I didn't like it!!
REALLY??? 3 weeks before my wedding!!
So i have decided that I do not want to start my marriage off with all this negativity. My fiance bless his heart supports whatever decision i decide to make. I haven't told the church anything yet JIC--- I am looking for any place that is welcoming and accepting. I am going to check the maritime museum and some other locations- but I am worried about doing something outside due to the weather. Our reception is in islip so I am trying to stay in that genereal area.... This is a nightmare!!

if your concerened about fes, then you should have something in writing from the churchwhen you first signed up to have your wedding held there. you can stick to that and they can not charge you any more than that since its a legally binding ocntract. Escalate the situation to the archbishop of the diocese your church is located in if you can't get anywhere with your priest, but start with the pastor. no catholic church lets you write or say your own vows - its the whole point of getting married in a church- that keep things tradtional. so if your looking for that, you won't get it in a church. if i was you, i would start calling other churches and see if they have your date available. i'm assuming you already did precana? don't forget to get those papers back if you go with another church. also, if yougo with another church, they will reauire, from the bride only, a letter of release from her parish, if you are registered somewhere else. and finally, don't your invites already have this church info on them? have you though about how you will let your guests know about the change?

there is no archbishop- its a congregational church- they just have a board. No pre cana and he told us we could write our own vows from day one.... I am not too concerned about the invites- I will just get on facebook and call people. My shower is the weekend before so I can tell everyone the new location and give them diretion cards.

I love tha idea-- we looked online and werent sure what the requirements were in Long Island. We are going to meet with Rev Deb who is surprisingly fee on our date due to a cancellation.
I am looking at 2 venues this week- the little church in sayville and a mansion at the preserves in islip..... fingers crossed something pans out!!!
