OMG, I was so scarred!!

OMG, I was so scarred!!

OMG, I just got home, and I've never been so scarred in my life!

I work at 40th & Lex. When the pipe exploded we thought it was thunder, but then our lights went off and people started freaking out. The people on the north side of the building could see the smoke, and started yelling to get out of the building. I had to walk *RUN* down 44 flights of stairs. I really thought they had blown up Grand Central or the Citicorp building. It took 15 minutes to get downstairs, and I really thought this was it...I kept thinking, 'I can't believe I not going to get to marry my FH...'

Awww :(

I was working at 42nd and Madison when the blackout happened a few years ago, and I was in the Shuttle to Times Square when the blackout happened and all of grand central went black, the trian stopped, and some guy said 'be prepared to run' - the minute the train door opened I was the first one out, running like a madwoman and through the streets. It was over an hour before I realized it was not terrorism related

I WORK ON 40TH AND PARK!!!!!! it was the scariest thinggggg....i had no money, no cell phone, no bag, and no keys because they evacuated us and everyone thought it was a terrorist attack. i ran like there was no tomorrow! Everyone was running and I thought the Metlife building collapsed b/c all I saw was smoke and no building....it was way too freaky...my knees were shaking. I ended up walking home. thank god i live in the city!

I KNOW! I did the same thing, I had nothing on me at all. I don't even want to go back in, but I left my laptop, bag, money, phone, and a half-eaten nectarine on my desk! I couldn't even run, I just sat down at 39th and Park and waited for FH to show up! Which, in retrospect, was pretty stupid since I live at 22nd & Lex!!

That's pretty funny...i had FH pick me up toooo but from the upper east. one of the girls from the office is pregnant so we ran down to 36th and then walked down to 34th, and across to 1st avenue and then walked up to 81st and 2nd and ate at this really awesome yogurt place. I'm kinda scared to go into work tomorrow.....are you going in????

That is crazy, you must have been freaking...this is the third time I've had to go down those stairs...9/11, the blackout and now today...but I don't know what I would have done if I was on the subway during something like this.

Thanks for all the well wishes girls! I'm doing much better now. FH made my comfort food, and also gave me a beer, which helped tremendously!

We just got an email from our firm saying to call in and check in the morning. It sounds like they don't expect it to be open. They also wanted us to call in to the emergency line and let them know we 'arrived safely at our destination.' How sweet...how about safe but totally freaked the ***** out!!

hahhaha at least you got that email. the managing partner emailed us saying that someone called him from the office at around 6:30 and to call him immediately if that person is still in the office. HOW CRAZY IS THAT? Then he said for us to check the news in the morning and our switchboard and that they expect to be open in the morning. We don't have an emergency line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to love law firm life! I think I've decided I'm not going in tomorrow even if we are open. Though next time, I stopping to grab my wallet.

That's nice. My office is right there too and I keep checking my email but nothing. The news was saying air quality testing for asbestos. Um, hello is their a shield around my office that would protect us? I'll just check again in the morning and watch the news to see what the results are from the testing.
