my mom was able to get me in with her office tomorrow to see the pain management doctor about starting injections (epidoral steroid injections that will help with the back pain)

I pretty much spent all of last night and today hysterical crying or asleep. this pain is out of control. My back is so wrecked it blows!

a shot. in my spine. to help the pain?

well think of it this way. If the shot is in your back the you won't be able to see what is happening, and then the pain will get better.

Hope it all works out for ya

Re: omg im terrified.

don't worry I had them back in 2001 after a car accident and they are not that bad. Where are u getting it done? I had it done at Winthrop-out patient. Ask the doctor if u can have a valium first (about 30 mins before). I didn't do this the first time but I did for the 2nd and 3rd one. They tell u to just sit up and hunch your back over. Use a pillow in front of you. The medicine can burn going in but the actual needle doesn't hurt. You might hear a slight pop which really bothered me but I am sensitive to the sound. You should have heard me when i got my wisdom teeth pulled, that was much worse. Take an ipod with you and see if they will let u listen to drown out the sound.

Afterwards they will have you lay down for a few minutes. Just take it easy when u get home. I stayed in bed all day just to have the medicine spread out but I was fine to walk around and stuff. I had brought a pillow from home and put it behind me in the passenger seat of the car for the ride home. You will be fine, please feel free to FM me if u have any more questions, Good Luck!!

Re: omg im terrified.

my mother had it done, it really did help.

Athletes get it done all the time, in fact so often- they over do it - masking the pain instead of dealing with the injury

oh honey, try not to stress, it will be ok.
(((((((((((((the cassie))))))))))))) ***hugs for you**

The injections may seem scary ( i have to inject myself once a week for my MS) but it will be over before ya know it

try and stay strong

Re: omg im terrified.

2 of aunts have had it done and it helped tremendously.

I know it's scary and can be a but painful but think of this, it's quick. you get it done, suffer a bit and then the benefits of the pain management will be far more than dealing w the fleeting pain.

I'm staring shots in my stomach for my Crohns in 2 weeks. I'm so nervous but I know t will be fleeting and hopefully the results will be worth it.

Best of luck!
