OMG-need help on divorced parent situation

My father and mother CANNOT be introduced into reception together...dad is coming in with stepmom, real mom has a boyfriend right now and an aunt said it's proper etiuqette to have this BF be introduced with her....she's only been dating him 3 months...I've never met him, and I really don't want him in my pics or the videos that people will be taking. WHAT DO I DO?

Have you spoken about this with your mom - I'm sure it's an awkward situation but does she know how you feel? Maybe you could compromise and agree to have one pic with her and him and the rest he not be in? Is it that you don't like him - or is it the situation that he is relatively new in picture?

I think it would be uncomfortable for your mom to be introduced alone. How strongly does she feel about this guy? I would proboblay let her decide, and if she wants him, I would let it happen.

Otherewise, is there maybe an uncle that can escort her? Or do you have a brother?

we have the same problem but FH's parents can not STAND one another - I think FH will do what his brother did at his wedding - FFIL will be introduced with his wife and FMIL was introduced with her cousin - even though she came with a date -

I would say is there a male family member who can escort her in - an uncle, father, brother, son?

I would suggest having her come in with another male relative.

My parents are also divorced. My Dad is not going to be invited so we don't have to worry about him. My Mom does have a boyfriend and it has been the same guy for a few years, but it is a more casual relationship. My mother is going to be escorted by my uncle(her brother) who also happens to be my god-father.

I agree. Maybe a brother or uncle or her nephew?

I had thought about her two nephews (my cousins) and THEIR mother (my aunt) called and told me that it's absolutely not proper etiquette to do that...either let the boyfriend do it (remember, they've only been dating about 3 months and I haven't met him yet) or their brother (my uncle-who is a social bufoon, seriously---this side of my family is utter white trash)

I dont even want my mother walking in and being introduced with her husband! She can walk in with him but he wont be announced. just her. three months is short time though i would talk to your mom.

Re: OMG-need help on divorced parent situation

we had the same situation with DH's parents. they are divorced and did not want to be introduced together. FIL's wife was not at the wedding (long story), so he walked in with one of his sisters, DH's aunt. MIL did not want her BF in the photos and videos so she walked in with her mom, DH's grandmother. it was awesome because she was the only grandmother at the wedding, so it made her feel a little more special. definitely use other relatives that you are close to!!

I agree with Kathleenmarie. Do what is best for you. BUT i wouldn't have
my mom introduced alone. Def try and uncle if the nephews won't.

Both my parents and my FH's parents are divorce. And my FMIL is walking in
with her brother. BUT my parents are walking in together. I don't care if they like
it or not.

My parents are divorced as well and each of them are walking in with their boyfriend/girlfriend, but they've both been in these relationships for about 9-10 years so I can't say no. If I were you, I'd pick a family member and tell your aunt where to put her proper etiquette.

You said haven't met him - I think you have a right to know all people being introduced at YOUR wedding! You don't want to be looking at your pictures 10 years from now and asking 'what was that guy's name?'

Re: OMG-need help on divorced parent situation

My parents are newly separated (within the last year) and are not on speaking terms. Neither of them is bringing a date to the wedding, but I'm also worried about how they should be introduced. I was actually thinking about not doing parent introductions, just BP, but my FMIL got really offended at the idea of it. Has anyone had their parents come in separately, unascorted?

I am sorry for any of you gals that have to go through this sort of thing.....I think it's giving me the most stress out of all the wedding stuff....Good luck to you all!
