I was inspired by the retired numbers at Monument Park. There's a retired number in a circle, and then a plaque beneath it describing the player. Some I took straight from the monuments, others I had to create (for players like Jeter who are not retired yet). Then I added some personal anecdotes. Here's one that's a funny I decided to go with the funny one since the kids will be at this table. Otherwise we'd mention that FH & I were at Jeter's 2000 hit game and his first and only grand slam...so we try to add personal anecdotes for every player. One of our favorite stories is for Yogi Berra- FFIL actually sat on his lap as a child!!
Is she just amazing or what? She just whipped it up in an hour!!!

Thanks!
Players we're using:
2 Derek Jeter 3 Babe Ruth 4 Lou Gehrig 5 Joe DiMaggio 7 Mickey Mantle 8 Yogi Berra 9 Roger Maris 10 Phil Rizzuto (Scooter) 15 Thurman Munson 16 Whitey Ford 21 Paul O'Neill 23 Don Mattingly 25 Jason Giambi (even though I don't want to - he's FH's fave) 42 Mariano Rivera
I took the text that came with the retired numbers in the park, and had to make up my own for the non-retired players. It was fun to add our own personal anecdotes to it too! For instance, an internet post about Paul O'Neill and Bon Jovi is what brought FH & I together....FH's dad sat on Yogi's lap as a child...there's a mention of DiMaggio in our cake cutting song...etc etc...
